Overseas tourists finally roam free on Thai island of Phuket

PHUKET, Thailand (Reuters) - Newly arrived overseas tourists on Thailand's island of Phuket were able to roam free without quarantine on Friday for the first time in more than a year, as Thailand launched a special programme for vaccinated visitors to the island.

COVID-19 in Thailand expected to worsen next week, CCSA says

Gen. Nattaphon Narkphanich, secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC) and director of the operations centre of the CCSA, said today (Friday) that the CCSA predicts an increase in the rate of new COVID-19 infections next week, so vaccinations must be accelerated.

Bangkok to set up 6 pre-admission centres for asymptomatic COVID-19 patients

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is setting up six pre-admission centres, with the first being at Wat Saphan in Klongtoey and the second at the health promotion centre in Petchkasem Soi 69, to accommodate asymptomatic cases and those with mild symptoms, while they are waiting for hospital beds.

NVI sourcing more vaccines after AstraZeneca shortfall

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Director of the National Vaccine Institute (NVI) has acknowledged Thailand was slow to place its vaccination orders while reporting registration and orders for Pfizer brand jabs have been completed and are only pending contract signing. He acknowledged that deliveries of AstraZeneca have dropped to 5-6 million doses a month from an agreement for 10 million due to demand from other nations.

No delays in Phuket Sandbox entry permit processing: Foreign Ministry

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says processing of all Certificate of Entry requests in the Phuket Tourism Sandbox campaign is being done in a timely manner, however a permit cannot be issued for applications that fail to comply fully with the regulations.

Samui, Phangan, Koh Tao ready to reopen on July 15 - 70% of islands vaccinated

Tourism Council announce their four scenarios for return of foreign tourists in 2021 - 3 million tops, 1 million worst
