Daily News reported that five people in Nikhom Kham Soi district of Mukdahan in Thailand's north east had been prosecuted for various offences related to providing misleading or insufficient information regarding Covid-19.

Two were charged under regulations promulgated in 2005 and 2015 regarding giving false information to officials.

Two houseowners - a man aged 40 and a woman of 47 - were charged. These appeared to be officials responsible for recording information who had not done their duty. They also face disciplinary action if found guilty.

A 28 year old woman faces a two year jail term or 200,000 baht in fines under Article 328 for posting defamatory statements on Facebook after a foul language rant.

One of the five was a woman who arrived from Din Daeng in Bangkok but did not give that information.

She subsequently tested positive for Covid but still maintained contact with a male relative who attended a school in the area.

This resulted in the school having to be shut.

Tough on the peasants but not on the HiSo's that were in government and in the Krystal club.. as usual Thailand and double standards.

Its good that people get punished for withholding information but then it should apply to all.

This level of scrutiny is enough to deter anyone from coming to Thailand.

I will be reviewing my options later this year.

She deserves it, but not sure about the others.
