BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Department of Disease Control (DDC) has stated that foreigners living in Thailand can now register for their COVID-19 vaccine directly with Phyathai 2 and Samitivej Sukhumvit hospitals, since the Thailandintervac.com website is now out of commission.

For now, the hospitals are only accepting applications from foreigners who are 60 or above or who suffer from underlying conditions, like severe chronic respiratory diseases, coronary artery disease, chronic kidney disease (fifth stage), cerebrovascular disease, cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, diabetes or obesity (weighing more than 100kg or with a BMI of above 35kg/m).

The hospitals will call the applicant to set an appointment after receiving the details. For further information, contact the Department of Disease Control by emailing [email protected] or by calling (02) 590 3832 or (02) 590 3836.

Meanwhile, diplomats, consular officers and staff of international organizations on the nominative list proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be contacted by the Office of International Cooperation and the DDC of the Ministry of Public Health to coordinate vaccination services.

Not only is the script getting fainter as the article proceeds but the number of eligible expats also.

>foreigners living in Thailand can now register

Now? The Phyathai 2 site clearly says "The registration will be in the format Google Form, and the link of Google Form will be placed on the homepage of the website at 09.00-12.00 hours on 12-16 July when registration is open***"

Pound to a penny it is Sinovac.

FYI: The Phyathai page specifically states AstraZeneca.

Especially if you are not allowed interprovincial travel and get turned back at the border.

What’s worse, a vaccinated individual who’s living with someone infected and swapping fluids.

Or, a careful and non vaccinated individual… presumably swapping fluids with no one.

This all makes perfect sense. Perfect. Impenetrable.

Have you tried contacting your local health center or local Govt Hospital?

My local health center arranged my appointment for the AZ vaccine at my local hospital, I had it on 28th June with the second appt scheduled for 20th Sept.

Yesterday I sent an email to Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital and registered.  At the end of the email exchange, I was advised the AstraZenica vaccine would be available sometime in September.  They will contact me when the vaccine is available.

I have several issues with the way the vaccine rollout has been handled for expatriates in Thailand. However getting to Bangkok, in a country well provided for travel links, is not one of them.

Do they really think all foreigners live in bangkok?

imbiciles.

Although the government is discouraging inter provincial travel at the moment. So there’s that.

and the ccsa has said that it is mulling a “lockdown” of sorts for Bangkok on Monday. So there’s that also.

and flying to bangkok, or bus, does seem kind of risky as there is a pandemic and being close to large groups is not recommended.

in normal times, sure, getting to bangkok is a breeze. These aren’t normal times.

Well, I don't live there and got my first shot there 2 weeks ago.

It says "Thailand" so if you don't live in Bangkok at least give it a shot.

But the typical weak response of "I don't want to drive --- hours to Bangkok" up to you.

A potential life saving vaccine is not worth a half day drive?  Then don't come back on here later and claim a vaccine is not available or when a person is stuck in some hospital on a ventilator they can think about it..

from my second post above:

let me add a few points since you clearly can’t grasp some practical realities:

1. It’s not half a day drive. It’s 12 hours solid driving which with stops, means 2 days there, two days back, including an overnight stop at a hotel. I’m not bothered about doing it, I’ve done it before several times, but it does mean exposure to other people.

2. Assuming I have an appointment, clearly there will be at least an overnight stop in a deep red zone that is the epicentre of Thailand’s Delta Covid outbreak. Medically a stupid thing to do.

3. Currently my wife is stuck at our house in Udon due to Covid. So I am in Phuket with my young daughter. Assuming I ignore all sensible medical advice and drive two days into a deep red zone crossing several provincial borders on the way, who will look after my daughter while I am away?

I suggest you come off your high horse and have a little more understanding of the responsibilities that others have, rather than being so condescending.

or just continue giving out irresponsible advice. I don’t really care either way.

6 hours drive up as there are no interprovincial buses or flights. Wait around to register in Bangkok, a red zone. Then drive back 6 hours. Then drive 6 hours for the first jab with a wait before and after in a hospital in a red zone. Then drive 6 hours back. Rinse and repeat for the second jab which is the one that counts. Now add in a possible lockdown looming and that really shoots your comments out of the water! Probable chance of catching the damn virus trying to get the jabs!!

If you are in Phuket, you should ask around there,, As far as i have heard people with covid extensions have had their jabs also.. This is because of sandbox scheme.
