Cold Feet

Featured Replies

For the last few days, I've been feeling very cold in the feet and today cold toes.

Yes, I use air-conditioning. Should I be worried about anything serious, apart from hypochondria?

Do your legs or feet cramp up when your feet are cold ?

I get this when I'm in bed. Once I put socks on its ok.

No cramps at all.

Common amongst older people (dont know how old you are) as poor circulation (age related).

Sounds like you may have some neuropathy, and as indicated in a post by BritMan you could have diabetes that has not been diagnosed yet.  Easy to check by getting tested to see what your blood sugars are running and an A1C test to see your 3 month average.  If good to go then the Neuropathy could be caused by some nerve that has been pinched in the back area.  Do you have foot drop, and can you lift all yur toes up in the air with the feet firmly planted on the ground......just some ideas.

I had a full check up about 3 months ago, no issues.

Yes, I can do that with the toes.

I did start taking a drug called Neurontin for another issue, maybe that could be it.

Possibly not relared as it is not a known side effect.  Hope it resolves, if not I would check back in with my doctor.

Circulatory or nerve problem (neither of which would show on a routine check up).

Try this: squeeze your big toe with 2 fingers (1 under the toe and one on the nail) tight until the nail turns white. Let go and see how long it takes to turn pink again. If circulation is good it will pink up within 2-3 seconds. If not, you my have some circulatory impairment  in which case see a vascular specialist.

if the circulation seems OK, give it a while but if it persists and is bothersome see a neurologist.
