BANGKOK (NNT) - The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is planning to elevate COVID-19 prevention measures in the 10 most strictly controlled provinces, after finding current restrictions are not having an impact on the situation, as well as violations of rules.

Deputy Spokesperson to the CCSA Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan reported that after an appraisal of measures imposed on the 10 most strictly controlled provinces, namely Bangkok, its surrounding provinces and four provinces of the south, since July 12, it was found that 217 violations of the restrictions had been committed. Of the total, 158 were people leaving their abodes after the prescribed time and 59 gatherings in excess of five people. Forty-five people have been charged.

The CCSA also found unpermitted interprovincial travel, leisure gatherings and gambling, while receiving complaints of establishments violating closure orders. In response, the center is to elevate its measures and shutter more types of businesses in the 10 provinces.

On the use of Rapid Antigen Tests at home to alleviate bottle necks at test sites, the CCSA reiterates that people who receive a positive result must report to their nearest public health service office for care.

Those who receive a negative result but are at risk must retake the test every 3-5 days. It asks that citizens purchase the tests at drug stores rather than online, as those tests may be sub-standard, reminding them that the tests must be sold by a pharmacist and are not available at convenience stores.

Do they seriously think Thais are about to start using what little money they have now to start buying tests every 3-5 days ?    They get more ludicrous daily

  • Here is a radical thought.  Try vaccinating the people with a quality vaccine.  Sinovac doesn't count as a quality vaccine.

  • Horrible choice of words.

Tighter Covid restrictions coming “very soon”

By Erich Parpart

Stricter Covid restriction measures are coming, the government said on Friday, as the latest steps have not stopped the latest surge of infections.

“The results from five days of the current measures were discussed at the meeting, and led to the concern that there might be a need for stricter measures,” said Dr Apisamai Srirangson, the assistant spokeswoman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

“There might be a need to close down more businesses and as many as we can,” she added.

Thai Prime Minister states further Covid-19 restrictions and controls coming, says it is necessary

By Adam Judd

Thailand-The Thai Prime Minister, Prayut Chan O’Cha, posted on his social media accounts in the past hour, directly addressing speculation over the past several hours about further restrictions, closure measures, regulations, and other moves to control the Covid-19 coronavirus, especially in Bangkok and maximum control (Dark red, by a Thai color-coding system) provinces.

The PM confirmed in his post, which you can read in Thai here, that after a meeting with the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, and relevant agencies, doctors, and experts, that further measures were needed.

This comes after measures enacted on Monday of this week, which you can read about here, were seen by experts from the Public Health Ministry and Department of Disease Control as “not enough”.

The spokesperson for the CCSA, Apisamai Srirangsan, said at a press conference this afternoon that people were not taking overnight “stay at home” restrictions in Bangkok and other areas seriously enough and many people continued to gather, socialize, gamble, drink alcohol, and other behaviors that could continue to spread the Covid-19 virus.

Apisamai was the first to state that the CCSA was considering stricter measures, as well as changing color codes in some provinces.

So in their weekly meeting of the minds or lack of minds, they all pulled together and realized that Covid doesn't just come out at night and their nightly curfew idea wasn't working and is pretty much useless.

I think we're on the cusp of a major outbreak and nothing they do will prevent it.

How about getting the population vaccinated or is that to much to ask?

"how about something like reducing the amount of time people can shop for food so they are all together?"

"no we did that one already."

"how about calling Bangkok a super duper deep dark red zone?"

The government should be handing these out free to all with it's new lockdown requirements and rules.

Let's hope this crazy idea gets rejected!

Two of the additional #COVID19 measures being considered by the govt for Metro Bangkok are permitting people to leave homes only on Mon, Weds & Fri and shutting down supermarkets plus restaurants on alternate day. Be prepared folks. #Thailand

I thought there actually were more than 10 strictly controlled provinces, since the addition of Chonburi, Chachoengsao, Rayong, Ratchaburi, Udon Thani, Surin and Ubon Ratchathani. Making it 17.

Dark Red zones

Bangkok, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, Yala, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Pattani, Songkhla, Narathiwat

*Recently added: Chon Buri, Chachoengsao, Rayong, Ratchaburi, Udon Thani, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani

GF just said that from what she is hearing from contacts who are associated with BMA that this will occur and that the curfew will be strictly enforced as well as interprovincial travel being locked off unless you have a travel letter.  Of course it is all anecdotal.

Obviously the government and the media have driven many Thai's a bit crazy. What with all the fiip flops plus there stuff ups in ordering effective vaccines etc. etc. I think many have come to realize there is no way this virus will be stopped or controlled period so they are just starting to ignore the lame duck government and make the most of whatever fun they can find. The old saying comes to mind " monkey see monkey do"

I wonder what will constitute a travel letter?  Can I write it myself?  I guess we'll know later this weekend.

Those measures might come just before sunday protest in bangkok and the other cities.

The royal gazette has yesterday published an order not to go on streets.

Also yesterday's protests outside the ministry of health, demanding mrna vaccine to be contracted (so far only 1mln of moderna was contracted by the red cross, and this comes from the 5mln figure which the GPO suppose to contract)

Oh yes, I’m sure everyone will listen. Anything short of a 90 day full lockdown won’t do a thing.

  • Popular Post

If the govt. escalated the vaccine availability instead of seemingly doing everything they can to stop the importation of effective vaccines then maybe they wouldn't need to escalate measures such as these.

Stop wasting time and money with Sinovac!!!! Do your jobs and protect the people in the country already!!!

Why not have it so if your birthday is on an even numbered day, you can go out on even numbered days and vice versa.    LOL  555

Vaccines.  Vaccines. Vaccines.

Vaccinating everyone in the country is the #1 “restriction” of the virus that need to be imposed.
