Samui opened again to foreign arrivals this week, using a tourism model that is a little different from the Phuket “sandbox”. For the tourists, the COVID-19 restrictions will be stricter than on Phuket, with some freedom to enjoy tourism activities with listed businesses.

These businesses have been through a lengthy certification process and extensive training with medical professionals and public health officials, have learned how to protect themselves and how to make it safe for the visitors.

During the second week, tourists can go anywhere on Samui, Phang Ngan and Tao islands.

Making practically zero difference. Only thing keeping anywhere open really seems to be the locals and expats that have regular spots they go to . These places will do ok trade , but fancy restaurants in hotels etc will stay quiet unless basically giving away food in some special deal !

At least 2 years before the place picks up I would say .

They duped some businesses to reopen with these news releases,  soon they'll close again, no money made, more money lost to reopen and close again.

Yeah restocking everything and rehiring staff will probably cost more than they will make in next 2-3 months for sure .
