Since March 14.8 million doses of vaccine have been administered for Covid-19 in Thailand, according to the Department of Disease Control (DDC).

Of those 229 have died mostly within one month of being vaccinated.

That represented 16 per million doses.

None of these were directly linked to the vaccine administered with most having complications related to heart and brain blood vessels, Dr Sophon Iamsirithavorn from the DDC told Daily News.

One fatality is currently being investigated.

He was referring to a 39 year old female teacher in Prachuap Khiri Khan province who died on Tuesday.

She received a Sinovac jab on 28th June and her second dose was AstraZeneca administered on Monday.

Dr Sophon said that the deceased woman had high blood pressure and a BMI of 31.

All cases of death after vaccination were thoroughly investigated, he said.

those with 48h window should be thoroughly investigated.

I know of a case of 36h after vaccination, but no autopsy at all - religious family did not want it. They wanted fast burial. Once buried/cremated, investigation can't be initiated in the future.

Senior nursing home, run by religious nuns on commercial basis, was also against autopsy, because they wanted to vaccinate the rest of patients. Family and management of that home do support politically the present government there and did not want to make any fuss.

Similar scenario will be taking place in all countries.

In some countries autopsies are not carried on religious grounds

A troll post about the "Topic of Hua Hin woman who died after second jab of Astra mixed with with Sinovac is deleted" has been removed.  That topic is still running here:

But, the regime has stated unequivocally that every single death is UNRELATED to the vaccination.

Every single person had pre-existing conditions, and would have died anyway, we're told by the "authorities"

The 39-YO who passed after getting AZ as dose #2 after sinovac, is alarming, but easily explained away today, high-blood pressure.

On the other hand, to date about 10 million people in Thailand have received at least one vaccination. On a yearly basis that would be about 3000. And given that the elderly are one of the prioritized groups, is that a disproportionate number of deaths?

The average life expectancy in Thailand is about 77 years and vaccines have been targeting older aged persons first.  Given only 229 people had died within a month of receiving the vaccine we can only assume the vaccine has remarkable power to prolong life and avoid all forms of mortality!  Jab on. ????

A post denigrating and calling Chinese vaccines useless and referring to it with derogatory names has been removed.

Whilst it may be less effective in certain cases ie Delta strain it is by no means useless.

At the end of the day this is a Thai government sponsored vaccine and the forum and or yourself can get in trouble for comments like this so stop it.

These deaths are coincident with the administration of a vaccine.

These are not people who died from COVID.

The article which states "None of these were directly linked to the vaccine administered with most having complications related to heart and brain blood vessels, Dr Sophon Iamsirithavorn from the DDC told Daily News."  ie: they had brain and heart complications - not necessarily related to administration of the vaccine.  Thats 0.0015%.  Much lower than I would expect in the general population.  ie: one month time duration after the vaccination really allows for a wide range of causes of morbidity, especially here in Thailand.

This is not what was implied in the article which states

"Coincident".

They died after receiving a vaccine. We're told that every single one died as a result of their pre-existing conditions, and that they would have died at exactly the same day/time had they not had the vaccine.

oddly mentions prolonging life, when discussing deceased persons, who died of something other than COVID, so your claimed efficacy seems well, strange.

Causality it very difficult to prove, and impossible to disprove scientifically. Did the vaccine cause the effect, or that effect?  We will never know at this stage in a vaccine's life. Analyses of anecdotes never show anything. The authorities are over claiming, imho. What is quite obvious is that vaccines  in general have a low level of side effects and can be considered quite safe. With MMR vaccines we saw that parents got very het up and acted irrationally when a few cases that had had MMR got retardation issues. It is an emotional issue.

Regarding the difference between vaccines....I think in the real world that the results of the vaccines will be similar. I don't really believe the claims by Pfizer and AZ that theirs work better against the delta strain. There are two dimensions to vaccine efficacy...that is the quantity and quality of the antibodies produced. The quantity is easy to measure and that has been the basis for all efficacy claims.....it is reasonable, other things being equal. But it is important to hang on to the idea that the antibodies produced are not the same, and a smaller number of more effective antibodies might offer better protection.

When we got our 1st jab of AZ in the village we also got instructions to avoid alcohol & coffee for 4 days.

2 Thai characters had a bit of a binge on the 2nd night & would have died had the other 2 on the binge

not had the forsight to take directly to hospital

They spent 3 days there

Typical Thai voodoo nonsense talk. Same when you are sick and go to the pharmacy.  No chicken or seafood.

Had the vaccine. Drank two coffees before. Drank 4 beers that night and drank two coffees the next morning.

Strange that no farang or Thai alike trusts this gov't except when they are told to lock down and take an experimental under emergency use authorization use vax.

In 2019 in Thailand 506,210 people died across all age groups and all reasons.

The vaccine causes your immune system to react and learn how to fight the virus. Alcohol interferes with that process, so you're probably slightly less protected than you would have been. Still much better than no vaccine at all, of course.

I think you grossly misunderstand my quip.  If 227 people die of heart or brain failure within one month of receiving the vaccine but their death is not attributable to the vaccine then this is probably less than in the general population (the control).   Therefore one can intimate that the vaccine has life preserving characteristics.  Its a quip - based on the loose language of the article.  I suspect these deaths had nothing to  do with the vaccine at all but who knows.  The number is miniscule compared to the population size.
