Toyota D4D valve guide oil seals

Featured Replies

I have an aging Hilux 3.0 l turbo diesel that still performs extremely well but for the fact that very recently the valve guide seals have suddenly collapsed/cracked/disentegrated.

I am curious to know if anybody in Thailand has ever had such or similar remedial work done in any workshop and at what cost?

I have enough experience to undertake the job myself but extended time leaning into an engine bay  with a bad back has no appeal at all anymore. That plus playing with dirty black diesel grime lost any appeal many years ago as part of 4 years employment in heavy machinery maintenance and repair.

If all that is wrong is the seals, the head does not need to be removed.

Buy genuine Toyota seals - not jobber.

Any competent shop can do this for you. I would Not use the Toyota dealer as they will farm the job out and charge you extra for the service.

Not difficult

I haven't had to do anything like that but if I get a problem I go to a "Cockpit outlet" try there first.

The older I get the more I like the OEM for critical parts.
