PHUKET: Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew this morning vowed to bring justice for the killing of Swiss tourist Nicole Sauvain-Weisskopf, whose body was found near the Ao Yon Waterfall on Phuket’s east coast yesterday afternoon.

Slow vaccine roll-out forcing Swedes in Thailand to go home

Food supply reduced amid COVID spread at processing plants

Food supplies at markets and supermarkets are reducing amid partial closures and subsequent reduced production capacity at almost 100 food processing plants nationwide, following the spread of COVID-19 among their workers. Some items have reportedly run out, with certain shops and stalls forced to close.

Thailand has been ranked bottom of a list of over 120 countries on Nikkei Asia’s COVID-19 Recovery Index, with a score of 22.0, tied with Vietnam.

Thousands of police mobilised to handle protesters in Bangkok on Saturday

The Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) plans to deploy more than 5,000 officers at 14 locations at and near the Grand Palace, the Democracy Monument and Government House in Bangkok, where at least three anti-government groups plan to hold protests tomorrow to put pressure on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to resign.

Tricky salvage operation after body of mystery man found dead on mudbank in Chao Praya estuary

Record 670,834 vaccinations given on August 5th in Thailand

A total of 670,834 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in Thailand on Thursday, which is the most given in the country in a single day since February 28th, according to the COVID-19 Information Centre.
