PHUKET: The area around the Phuket Town Fresh Market 1 on Ranong Rd in Phuket Town has been placed under lockdown for one week following a spate of infections at the market

“No people are allowed to enter or leave the areas, except for the delivery of food, cooking gas, medical equipment, as well as emergency ambulance and medical staff,” said a provincial order issued by Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew last night (Aug 10).

The order is in effect from today (Aug 11) through next Tuesday (Aug 17).

Sooooooooo . . . food deliveries are OK to the stalls, but can you go in and buy food once it's delivered?

It is an area of shop houses with many people living there too. I'm sure they would need to eat when under lock down.

So, now life is much brighter for everyone playing in the sandbox.

Not a tourist area.

Maybe not but still plenty visitors visit that area. Indeed I think the local beach buses still terminated there.

So, tourists do not move around? That is a definition of a tourist. They move around. Especially if you place them in a limited area.

However, my comment was more of a joke due to that so much in Phuket already closed and this was just adding to the misery.

Agree, my main point is that I get tired of people trying to connect everything to the sandbox and keep on claiming it a failure and tourists are not enjoying themselves. That from posting far away from Phuket with happy tourists posting otherwise.

Is this the morning market on street with a Thai Airlines office?

Trucks with sand will be coming soon, so you can play........in the sandbox

Yes.

So many people do not know what the sandbox in the sandbox means and make the mistake of assuming it has something to do with the Phuket Beaches !!!! - rather amusing to see these smart people falling foul of this and highlighting to such an obvious degree that they don’t know what they don’t know...

Look up ‘SandBox’ ( as in experimental testing for security, usually with computing and viruses - the Phuket Sandbox has adopted this terminology )
