CHONBURI, Aug 13 (TNA) – Vaccinations against COVID-19 with the Pfizer vaccine donated by the United States began in 13 provinces of severe outbreaks.

Local hospitals started inoculations with 645,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for elderly people, patients of seven chronic diseases who are 12 years old and over and the women who have been pregnant for 12 weeks and more.

In Si Racha district of Chon Buri, Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital organized the vaccinations at Pacific Park Sriracha shopping center. Groups of vaccine recipients were inoculated at different times to prevent crowds.

In Chachoengsao province, staff of Bang Nam Priao Hospital administered about 1,300 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to target groups of people. The hospital received 1,500 doses for people in Bang Nam Priao district that had the highest accumulated COVID-19 cases in the province, at 1,817 cases.

In the ghost town, formerly known as Pattaya, rumour has it that Bangkok/Ghosttown Hospital may be doing some aged 2nd class retirees sometime in the next two weeks.

Local poo yai today, for the first time asked for anyone wanting Sinovac to attend on 3 days this month in Sangkhla Buri. Sangkhla Buri is pretty much locked down now with many large clusters and outbreaks in factories. His advice - go early it will be busy! It's about an hours drive for me.

Also for the first time, anyone under 60 can go but only 500 per day will get a jab. This area while small in relative terms has many thousands of Thai and a handful of farang, as well as a high percentage of migrant workers, being home to the 3 Pagodas border pass to Myanmar. Again for the first time all are eligible, including me, if I wasn't 66, and migrant workers.

Kanchanburi is deep red but so far vaccines of any kind are conspicuous by their absence.

I agree with the view that we are entering a period of offloading SInovac wherever they can. I just hope they are not stupid or deparate enough to order more.

This whole expatvac is just another exercise in false hope, won't be long before reports come in of appointments too far from home, and turning up to not get Pfizer.

Our local Amphur started a 7-day mass vaccination campaign yesterday. With the Delta as contagious as it is, trying to gamble on getting fully vaccinated with Pfizer seems a stretch too far. I went to the vaccination site, got in the queue and was vaccinated about an hour later. Looks like they were jabbing 1-2 people a minute with Sinovac as first dose, AstraZenica for those few getting their 2nd dose. I'd been communicating with the nurse in charge of registrations since late May. As they were packing up I asked if the health workers had gotten Pfizer. "Yes, but not enough for everyone." was her answer.
Bottom line about Sinovac as I shared with friends and family in the USA:

Millions of doses have been administered, yet many other people have been holding out (like me) for the vaccines that are scarce in the world. I photos taken so as to encourage others to get what is available now. I just messaged friends locally, trying to put these photos to work to get past local resistance.
It is not protection from infection, but it does give our bodies a sample of what to be prepared for. The rest is up to us, and our overall health and immune system strength. Wearing a mask is still advisable. Every level of protection helps slow the spread of this disease.

Maybe expatvac and previous like websites, have collected thousands of farang personal details, medical conditions, copies of current passports and visas, current addresses, correct email addresses, and phone numbers..

They certainly haven't demonstrated that farangs have been vaccinated as a result of these bogus websites, which appear to be only collecting our vital information.. just sayin.. ????

Hmmmm.. maybe I'm being too suspicious.. ????????????????????????

Nice, but there are those 19 to 59 year old folks that need vaccinations as well,  yet are unable to get one.  The GF has registered but told she is not eligible to be vaccinated. She was told by her specialist doctor maybe by next year..  so ridiculous that as a foreign worker she gets screwed again and again, first no SS, then not eligible for funding to help her Salon (She closed it and sold all).  Paid for a vaccine at a hospital who was ordering Moderna but then told they were not getting as much for the order and was canceled.  All a crock of feces.

Reality is , you will get vaccinated next year at best . Will the promised vaccines come to Thailand and be fairly distributed ?  Indeed I am surprised the black market for vaccines has not kicked off in Thailand . Maybe best to be proactive and if you can get a visa for your g/f you could go to your home country for a holiday and get double jabbed at the same time . Not trying to be dramatic but if todays covid daily infection predicted rate is correct at 50,000 a day with 45% of the population to be infected , it may be prudent to follow my suggestion .

They were doing at least some hundreds of Pfizer vaccinations of expats at MedPark Hospital in Bangkok this past week.

That said, I completed my registration last Monday on the Expatvac website as someone over age 60 and in Bangkok, and haven't as yet had any follow-up with an appointment date.  But admittedly, there were about a week's worth of registrations ahead of me by the time I completed their process.

I got my first dose of AZ about 2 months and got a appointment for the Pfizer vaccine next week @ medpark hospital. Getting a appointment both times was fairly easy for me but I guess everybody is not in the same boat. 70yo American with COPD I didn't have any problems. The only problem is its not going to work until everyone gets the vaccine and the way things are going it will probably be the middle of next year
