A video published by Thai media 77kaoded showed a man being put on a stretcher and taken back to hospital after he fled a Covid-19 ward.

Staff from the Sawang Khunatham rescue foundation had to don PPE equipment quickly and respond after the man left the ward.

He was found walking behind the Jaturas Hospital in the north eastern province of Udon and refused to stop.

A policeman looked on as he was about to be loaded up into an ambulance on a stretcher.

The man, aged 50 from Som Poi sub-district had already spent 13 days in the hospital but had not recovered.

He left saying he wanted to see his wife and children whom he missed.

Then why did he need to be put on a stretcher?

If he was uncooperative, putting him on a stretcher was probably the only way to return him to his ward safely and without causing undue stress and alarm. From what little we can see, I think they did a pretty good job.

Typically  judgemental  commentary !

Here is an individual that the given explanation for him going awol is that he  missed his wife and children.

No detail as to his medical state which  could be that he ha developed severe symptoms and is/was in a state of feverish delerium?

Perhaps aggravated by being informed on day 13 that he was  not going home soon?

The police presence? Obliged  by report/ reason of an abscondee from compulsory  detention!

Are some disappointed he did  not draw a weapon and shoot to death the poor sod?

I suspect  so!
