Trump seems to have a pathological fear of having anyone in the room that's more intelligent than he is which is kind of shocking considering how dim he is. So he tends to pick from the absolute bottom of the barrel and nearly every member of his administration is testament to that. However one would expect more from the military, but the issue is likely the fact that Trump is just not listening to advice, as usual. If you think you're the smartest man in the world then I suppose there's no need for advice. And that's the very thing that makes him one of the most dangerous men in the world. Most leaders understand their limitations and use experts to bolster their credentials and their arguments, that's just not part of Trump's M.O., never has been, never will be. He is far too ignorant to see the need for expert advice.
