I am asking for a friend. Seriously. ????

He is getting married in Thailand and needs marriage documents from his country's Embassy in order to get the marriage visa here. Unfortunately they don't have an Embassy in Thailand but only in Malaysia. They told him they can send him copies via email or postal mail, but the originals he would need to come pick up on his own in Malaysia. Obviously that is not possible right now with Covid.

What would be the best way for him to solve this? He's kind of lost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I assume he need proof he not married in his home country which is typically called a affirmation of permit to marry.

That would need to be a original doucment to have translated to a Thai and certified by the Department of Consular Affairs of the MFA.

I cannot understand why the embassy cannot send the originals he needs by mail. If they send him certified copies that would normally be accepted.
