In the seven years this morbidly toxic regime has been in power, they have succeeded at very few projects, initiatives, or proposals. They have not succeeded in improving life for anyone, but the super rich, well connected, and those in power.

But, they have succeeded at one thing. Instilling a tremendous degree of fear into the masses about Covid. They have done this with such skill, and determination, it shows you that they are not as stupid as we thought they were. Incapable, yes. Destructive, yes. Lacking any care for their own people, yes. Lacking vision, yes. Stupid, no.

The general population is a very superstitious group to start with...leaving Red and Green Fanta for the Nature spirits daily as an example...doesn't take much to scare them with something else.

So my wife got off the phone and was told that her nephew in Bangkok insists that his neighbours all caught Covid due to being caught out in the rain.

I have heard some absolute crackers here in Thailand but this one is about the best.

Worst part is that he has a bachelor's degree and thinks that getting rained on wlll lead to Covid!

I told my wife i heard not to touch anything green as that can be very dangerous which didn't go down well.

Twenty baht doesn't go very far these days.

Noam Chomsky, one of the most important intellectuals today in life, has made a list of 10 manipulation strategies through the media.
Give 5 minutes and you will not regret it.
Isn't it to expand your knowledge?
1-The distraction strategy
The primordial element of social control is the distraction strategy of distracting public attention from important issues and decisive changes by political and economic elites, through deluge technique or flooding of continuous distractions and insignificant information.
The distraction strategy is also essential to prevent the public from interested in essential knowledge, in science, economics, psychology, neurobiology and cybernetics. Keeping public attention deviated from real social problems, imprisoned by themes of no real importance.
Keeping the public busy, busy, busy, with no time to think, back on the farm like other animals (quoted in the text ′′ Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars ′′).
2-Creating problems then delivering solutions.
This method is also referred to as ′′ problem-reaction-solution ". There is a problem, a ′′ situation ′′ planned to cause a certain reaction from the public, with the objective that it is the principal of the measures we want to get accepted. For example: allowing urban violence to spread or intensify, or organising bloody attacks, so that the public is the one who requires security and policy laws at the expense of freedom. Or also: create an economic crisis to accept the transfer of social rights and the dismantling of public services as a necessary evil.
3-The strategy of progress.
To get an unacceptable measure accepted, it is enough to gradually apply it to the drop count for consecutive years. Thus radically new socio-economic conditions (neoliberalism) were imposed during the decades of the 80 s and 90 s: minimum state, privatization, precariousness, flexibility, massive unemployment, wages that no longer guarantee income decent, so many changes that would have caused a revolution had it been applied in one go.
4-The strategy of deferring.
Another way to get an unpopular decision accepted is to present it as ′′ painful and necessary ", by obtaining public acceptance, at present, for future application. It is easier to accept a future sacrifice than to sacrifice immediately. First, because effort is not the one used immediately. Secondly, because the public, the mass, always tends to naively hope that ′′ everything will be better tomorrow ′′ and the sacrifice requested could be avoided. This gives the public more time to get used to the idea of change and accept it resigned when the time comes.
5-Addressing the public as well as children.
Most of the direct advertising to the general public uses especially infantile speeches, arguments, characters and intonation, many times close to weakness, as if the viewer was a few years old creature or a mental deficient. When the more you try to deceive the viewer the more you tend to use a childlike tone. Why is that? ′′ If someone addresses someone as if they are 12 or younger, then, according to the suggestion, they will definitely tend to a response or reaction even without critical sense like that of a 12 year old or not ′′ ′′ (see Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars).
6-Using the emotional aspect much more than thinking.
Use emotion is a classic technique to cause a short circuit on rational analysis and finally the critical sense of the individual. In addition, using the emotional registry allows the unconscious to open the door to implant or inject ideas, desires, fears and fears, compulsions or behaviors.
7-Keeping the public in ignorance and mediocrity.
Ensure that the public is unable to understand the technologies and methods used for its control and slavery.
′′ The quality of education given to lower social classes must be the poorest and most mediocre possible, so that the distance of ignorance that plans between lower and upper classes is and remains impossible to fill by lower classes ".
8-stimulate the public to be complacent with mediocrity.
Pushing the public to think it's tendency to be stupid, vulgar and ignorant...
9-Strengthening self-guilt.
Make the individual believe that he is solely guilty of his misfortune, because of his insufficient intelligence, abilities or efforts. Thus, instead of rebeling against the economic system, the individual self depresses himself and blames himself, which in turn creates a depressive state, the effect of which is the inhibition of his action. And without action, there is no revolution!
10-Knowing individuals better than themselves know themselves.
Over the past 50 years, rapid progress in science has created a growing gap between public knowledge and dominant elites. Through biology, neurobiology, and applied psychology, the ′′ system ′′ has benefited from advanced knowledge of human beings, both in their physical and psychological form. The system has managed to get to know the common individual better than it knows it itself. This means that, in most cases, the system exercises higher control and power over individuals, more than it exercises over itself.

Had a blazing row with my ex after she declared snakes could fly.

Copy/paste: Flying snake, (genus Chrysopelea), any of five species of nonvenomous snakes constituting the genus Chrysopelea of the family Colubridae. These slender arboreal snakes are found in South Asia and the Indonesian archipelago.

They don't actually fly, but glide like a 'flying squirrel' by spreading their ribs. You owe your Ex an apology!

That's not unusual in any culture. I recall grandmother and mom telling me to wear a coat or I'll catch a death of a cold. There is some basis for their caution however, in that damp, cold weather has been shown to weaken your immune system and also that in inclement weather people tend to congregate indoors more, which is why we have a flu and cold season typically in the winter months.

flu jabs are recommended in May, at the beginning of the rainy season.

Looks, like winter months are safer than getting wet and cold and getting into air con rooms because of high humidity.

Winter humidity is lower

So it doesnt fly it glides.

No apology required. Not that she would get one anyway.
