A 31-year-old woman in HCMC has been fined VND5 million ($220) for posting a video on social media claiming the local government had "left residents to starve."

Ho Chi Minh City police said Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong on July 22 went on Facebook to criticize authorities of Binh Trung Dong Ward in Thu Duc City, saying "they did not allow local residents to receive support packages and did not take care of their wellbeing within lockdown areas."

The police said HCMC authorities are working with the government in implementing many actions to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus and to quickly bring the city to a new normal.
