Thailand reports 15,191 new COVID-19 cases and 253 more deaths

A total of 39.6 million Covid vaccines were administered between February 28 - September 10, including 26.9 million first doses, 12.1 million second doses & 613,673 third-booster shots.

 

758,503 people were vaccinated yesterday.

Thailand to "Reopen" is The Wrong Word As It Means Neither Quarantine Free Travel Nor Full Resumption Of All Businesses 

 

In some cases as in Pattaya, arrivals will be locked in their hotels for 3 days and then only allowed to travel on sealed routes to prepaid, predefined attractions, unable to go where they want in Pattaya for 2 weeks.

 

Likewise 28 Provinces continue to be classified as "deep red" maximum and strict control zones subject to 9 - 4 curfews, businesses forced to close at 8pm, alcohol sales banned in restaurants, bars and other entertainment venues closed.

 

The Centre for Covid - 19 Situation Administration extended all those restrictions till Sept 30th. Its inconceivable to think that they will be all lifted for 1st Oct "reopening"

So for day 2 personally I would sign up for the 'floating market' then onto the 'Koh Lan Extravaganza' which includes packed lunch.

Where do the excited tourists sign up.

Make sure to purchase your personalized snap in the swimming section of kho Lan a must for every trip to Pattaya.

They really need to change their messaging then as they are about to cause even more mental distress to people than they already have done.   I am aware of quite a few bar owners advertising for staff on social media as they believe they are going to be allowed to reopen and sell alcohol without any curfew or other restrictions in place from 1st Oct.    Maybe it is wishful thinking on the part of these bar owners, but to use language such as 'reopen' has led many to believe that is exactly what will be happening.

 

People are going to break down (if they have not already) with the mental torture of being teased with hope and having it taken away over and over again.

Many health workers, volunteer groups such as these and community officers that I know have not had a day off in the last three months. As they are out mixing in the community several have also chosen to isolate themselves from their families during those months.

 

I was kindly invited to take a look at the ongoing activities at Jungceylon vaccination centre in Phuket yesterday and they were piling in the AZ vaccine (around 2,500 for yesterday and the day before). An impressive set up.

 

I cannot condone the overall rollout "plan" for Thailand, but one thing is for sure, there is a huge ongoing vaccination programmme. I can question the government but I cannot question the commitment of these people.

Yep, I'm at Jungceylon next week for my second shot of AZ, it was very well organised last time.

Likewise when I had my first AZ jab at Saphan Hin. At that time they were doing 2,500 - 3,000 per day. I think they have now topped the 4,000 a day mark one day this week. Hats off to their dedication and hard work.

I million of them throughout the country, working tirelessly most of them, helping in all aspects of this crisis as well as their normal roles, contact tracing, vaccine attendance, all manner duties that would just not be possible without them. However they along with the doctors and nurses have never been shown the appreciation deserved by this government.

 

I've yet to see a campaign directed publicly to support them, the only comments I remember were last year was when they were accused of being at fault for catching covid as they did not take enough care, an accusation made by a senior official.

Yes I read that but the Phuket News publishes daily updates of red patients, those in ICU and they have not actually increased this last week. The number of normal beds for covid cases is different to the number of beds they have for normal cases and its the covid beds they were referring to.

 

The number of hospital beds remaining available stood at 398, or just 16.86% of the total number of beds designated for COVID patients

Ironically, it were any use at all, the Thais would be Exporting Tons of the stuff, and not wasting it on Prisoners

It’s the least effective vaccine that’s a fact, not slander by any means. It’s a vaccine that most countries have taken out of need not from preference. It helps but it’s like a cheap car, it works but breaks down more than a better quality one. If China wants some respect then try selling it the same as Aztrazeneca, cost price!

They are making a killing (excuse the pun) from its sale worldwide along with their covid PPE equipment.

Just saw this from the Thaiger, but I think it was from last evening report, but still discusses the hospital issues.

 

A record number of Covid-19 fatalities in Phuket today as last night’s Phuket Provincial Public Health Office report confirmed 4 deaths in 1 day. That marks 17 deaths in one week in Phuket, nearly doubling the total of deaths since the third wave of Covid-19 took hold at the beginning of April. In the 5 months since the start of the third wave, Phuket had seen a total of 20 deaths from Covid-19, but the 17 deaths in the past 7 days bring the total to 37 fatalities in the province. The 238 new infections today mark Phuket’s 12th day […]
