I think this might show a different story in relation to other countries. The unfortunate reality is that since 1st April there have so far been 14,953 deaths from covid and Thailand has a long way to go yet on that.????

More healthy kids are dying on the roads in one day than have died from covid in 18 months. Get them back in school NOW Kids should be in school now but the finer detail of getting all teachers vaccinated was lost in the strategy, they are starting to open some now under strict covid rules. It would also be useful to get their parents vaccinated, too many have already died leaving orphaned children in Thailand, thousands of them.

Popular Post mommysboy
1 hour ago, Kadilo said: It’s a bit of a misleading headline to say “Let’s open the country to tourists - come hell or high water” when both links state it’s when 70% of the residents are expected to have been fully vaccinated. From the second link: “According to the minister, more than 70 per cent of Bangkok’s population have already received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine but only 37 per cent have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. The remaining 33 per cent should have been given their second dose by early October, he added.” 80% or over need to be double jabbed and then add a week or two for the vaccines to reach full strength. Even then there will be a high case load and deaths will still be uncomfortably high. 90% would be preferable. December opening would be more realistic. Too slow in vaccinating the oldsters.
anchadian
Chiang Mai, Thailand's gateway to the north, struggles in absence of international tourists Chiang Mai, Thailand (CNN) — Prior to the pandemic, Chiang Mai received around four million international visitors a year, according to Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) figures. But the economic effects of Covid-19 on this tourist city and province of the same name in northern Thailand have been nothing short of devastating, with many travel-related businesses closing and thousands of people losing their jobs. https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/chiang-mai-thailand-pandemic-tourism-cmd/index.html

Cake Monster
At long last, there is some recognition from the Authorities that " Long Covid " exists in Thailand. However, the exact percentage of people who have Long Covid after their initial Infection seems to have eluded the Department that made the statement. Acording to them between 10- 20 % of those infected now have long covid. It seems that research is not their thing, so they pluck numbers friom thin air to publish. Just a tad amatuerish.
