webfact
Picture: INN A civil servant called Phisan has been ordered held in custody after claims he stole 13 million baht in Covid-19 payments. He was arrested by immigration police at the border in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai as he attempted to flee Thailand and returned to Bangkok, reported INN. Initial interrogation of the suspect indicated that he had said he spent all the money he got on gambling. Earlier the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security had spotted that 13 million baht had gone missing and at least 3 million baht intended for the poor suffering from Covid had gone into Phisan's private account. ASEAN NOW reported yesterday that the Thai media were saying that 45 million baht has gone missing in this case and that others were involved. Yesterday Phisan was taken to the court that deals with corruption cases in Bangkok by officers from Phayathai police station where he was ordered held in custody. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-09-21 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
