Ha looks like i will be having beers on my own up there

I went there to stay with friends last year. There were no farang bars but we found one large steak and wine place...quality and prices decent. There were a couple of clubs catering for a younger Thai crowd...loud and Thai.

Most of the main road to the town centre was being re-done, which was a pain. Taxis seemed to be rare, and my friend advised calling by phone.

I chose a 4-star hotel that looked nice at first (on Agoda) but the balcony of our suite was badly neglected, with a bird's nest and dead birds in situ. The suite was nicely done, with a hot tub and minibar. Breakfast was typical: fried eggs (tepid), cheap bacon and fly lice.

The main mall had a Lotus or Big C and a Robinsons. With the obligatory food court, one could have been in Korat (which does have some drinking bars) or any big town. There is a nice temple, but after 17 years here I have seen enuf temples and malls selling nylon socks in towns like Pitlock.

Pitso sorry to say like many cities up this way doesn't cater to much to Non Thais. In MHO all the better for it. Loads of places to shop but that's about it. Hoards of traffic during the day, dead at night.

Problem is that there are just not enough expats in these places ( especially since covid ) to be able to profitably sustain an expat hang out , especially as the locals have no need of them and don't frequent them. On top of this a lot of expats who have moved away from tourist areas are quite happy to just go with the local flow and integrate their activities accordingly. All three expat hang outs where I live have closed , ( never tried any of them ) driven out of business by declining number of expats and repeated lockdown measures.

You will soon have some female company being the only farang in town. ????

Don't count on it. I know Phitso well. If I was looking for F/Company Phitso certainly wouldn't be on my list.

I stayed with gay friends. It was no different there being gay, bi or straight. Gays have a slight advantage because there were a few guys on chats like Grindr who wanted company.. Three days in Pitlock were worse than 3 days in Udon, where there used to be 2 or 3 mixed drinking bars like Tongs. With Covid, I guess nothing is open yet.

Where I am they do in small numbers. Of course it could be like a zoo and they come to see foreigners?

Explains in part why they closed?

There is a big hotel where a lot of German speaking falangs go once or twice  a month maybe a couple of English speaking ones. They also have a buffet, if your interested ill find out more info for you. But if you want falang bar stay South or Chang mai.
