Bank Draft

Featured Replies

Hello Friends,

My nephew is coming to Canada and will need to show minimum $10,000. CDN to gain entry.

He went to Kasikorn Bank who stated they would only sell him a bank draft in US dollars.

Because of the exchange rates, he is better off exchanging his money in Thailand, as they are offering a much better rate than if he brought Thai baht to Canada.

Does anyone know of a bank or possibly Superrich where he could get a Bank draft in CDN $ ?

thank you,

GD

I suggest you follow the guidelines given here:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/supporting-documents.html

They refer to bank statements as evidence that a visitor can financially support themselves during a visit to Canada.  I do not think a bank draft is required.

I hope your nephew enjoys the cold weather that will soon arrive in Canada.

Hello gamb00ler,

Thank you for your response, we do have bank statements etc. for proof of funds as stated on the online application for a study permit.

It also states a bank draft in convertible currency, as proof of funds as well.

While he is finding it difficult to do this, he may just use the bank statements without the bank draft, and bring cash to Canada.

regards,

GD
