China will now heavily control all money leaving the country.

You are right, at least people will not be in the mood to spend like in the past even if they had the chance to come

"China's daily new cases would reach at least 637,155 if it adopted the United States' pandemic strategy, (the) report said.

Daily cases would hit 275,793 if China took the same approach as Britain and 454,198 if it imitated France, it said.

"The estimates revealed the real possibility of a colossal outbreak which would almost certainly induce an unaffordable burden on the medical system," the report said.

"Our findings have raised a clear warning that, for the time being, we are not ready to embrace 'open-up' strategies resting solely on the hypothesis of herd immunity induced by vaccination advocated by certain western countries."

The mathematicians cautioned that their estimates were based on basic arithmetic calculations and that more sophisticated models were needed to study the evolution of the pandemic if travel restrictions were lifted.

China has maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards COVID-19, saying the importance of containing local cases when they are found outweighs the disruptions caused by efforts to trace, isolate and treat the infected.

China reported 23 new confirmed coronavirus cases for November 27, down from 25 a day earlier, its health authority said on Sunday.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday designated a new COVID-19 variant detected in South Africa with a large number of mutations as being "of concern", prompting some countries to impose travel curbs (...)"

Let's be honest, nothing will recover or develop in Thailand without either Chinese or their money. Slave state on a slippery slope (no pun intended).

Historically, Siam/Thailand has been a loosely coordinated vassal of the traditional Chinese tributary system - in one form or another.

and in addition to the money they bring they can bring in a new virus as well,  this idiot analyst ignored where the world -wide virus originated AND where the government covered the outbreak up  as long as possible

This idea that Chinese tourists spend so much more money than Westerners is just silly.

Most Chinese spending is easily tracked - hotel stays, spending at big shopping malls with special discount cards and VAT refunds, and all their block-booking activities with tour groups etc.

I can spend large amounts of money in a day - visiting local bars, restaurants and shops, getting tuk tuks or renting transport. I pay for eveything in cash, and not a single baht is trackable by the "Thai Tourism Statiticians". Try asking local businesses if they get more trade from Chinese or Westerners and see what their response is ...

Exactly. And anyway, much of the commenting re Chinese tourism is simply face giving which the Chinese are sensitive to. Domestically, they love running those "we are the greatest" stories. The Thais of course are masters at telling people what they need to hear ala Noi from the massage shop saying "I don't like Thai man. I like you Farang. Good heart. Big snake. Handsome man."
