Of course, wear a mask when in public... ok.. but don’t get so twisted up about it that it ruins our day when someone else doesn’t !!!...

Couple of things, in your OP you do not "specifically limit this to malls".   Even if you had stated that (you didn't) you can't "specifically limit" something and then "extend it to all other enclosed public spaces".   Make up your mind which one it is, specifically!

I don’t disagree.... but would wear one simply because of the ‘optics’....  in central Bangkok ‘non-mask wearers’ are an easy target for any Police officer or BMA enforcers (think the guys who catch the foreigners who drop cigarette butts).... 

 

On the Soi I live on (which is fairly busy but not central Bangkok) - there are a lot of Thai’s not wearing masks... 

But go into the nearby wet market and about 90% are.... of course 7-11 everyone does, they have to.

 

About 6 months ago I stepped out of the car and walked into 7-11...  the staff erupted !!! I’d forgotten my mask !!! the same thing happens if we forget to ‘palm’ the thermometer. 

 

 

Its all theatre....  i just can’t be bothered not to play along !!!..... That said, I do think masks have value in busy areas, on flights and public transport too.

It happens seldom that I see people without mask. And then there are the following options:

 

a) The person is somewhere outside and a couple of meters away from anybody else.

Ok, no problem. There is no reason to get upset.

 

b) Is there a reason the person does not wear a mask? Maybe he/she is drinking or eating something. Give him a break, even if he only sips on his drink every 5 minutes. Should you really remind him he should change his behavior?

Don't do anything. It won't take long before someone else will show them the errors of their thinking.

Because I know it's likely that she forgot her mask and has to go back to her room. I was in 7/11 in sukumvit 31..a foreigner came inside without wearing a mask..the counter told him to wear a mask inside..he just said f..off.The manager came and offered him a free mask..f..off again.Then she called the police who came fast and rook him away.I guess to the policestation.

Mask wearing or not will never stop this utter to$$er from being an utter to$$er !!!... 

 

There is a line, and this guy was not only overstepping, but striding across with flagrant disregard for anyone else. I sincerely hope he was fined the full 20,000 baht for refusing to be considerate and then some for his atrocious behaviour.

Here in rural Thailand 95%  of Thais wear masks on motorcycles but many don't while in groups socializing.  It is a non issue regardless.  Outside of cities IMO Covid is not killing anyone.

What opinion?  As for Thai statistics, it depends on the provider and statistic.  Covid death data seems OK now but think deaths were underreported in 2020 if compared to excess deaths.  Hard to know everything in regards to Covid data but try to avoid conspiracies.

Same me. Several times I have come out of a coffee shop or from having eaten somewhere and realised after a while that my mask is either under my chin or in my pocket. Not intentional.

I even came down for breakfast in a hotel the other day, and had to ask a staff member for a mask.

I put it down to jet lag having just returned from a short trip back to the UK.

 

I do agree that the blatent refuseniks do need some form of punishment or coercion to make them wear masks, but deportation seems a bit extreme.
