Police arrest Muslim Cambodians enroute to Thai south

SA KAEO – Thai police nabbed 51 Cambodians for illegally entering Thailand on Wednesday, including eight Muslims en route to the violence-plagued southern border provinces.

Thai Army Rangers and provincial police arrested 48 Cambodians in the eastern province of Sa Kaeo, bordering Cambodia, at highway checkpoints there, while threemore Khmers were detained at the Aranyaprathet border crossing.

Living in one of the bordering provinces, I often consider the thought. Personally, I think the situation will confine itself to the Triple Threat Three...

MFA confident Thai embassies maintain transparent visa processes

The Minister of Foreign Affairs is confident that the Thai embassy in Cambodia maintains transparent visa processes.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nit Pibunsonkram (นิตย์ พิบูลสงคราม) commented on reports that more than 20,000 Camdodians have entered Thailand, but less than 2000 have returned to their home nation, with the remaining majority residing in the three southern border provinces. Mr. Nit affirmed that it is the policy of the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh to conduct stringent security and background inspections of Cambodians requesting visas to enter Thailand. He expressed his confidence that Thai embassies have always adhered to these standards.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs said that his ministry will coordinate with national security agencies in investigating these reports. Mr. Nit added that he has yet to received pertinent briefings from relevant agencies in the matter.
