Testing negative after infection with delta variant

Featured Replies

Anybody have experience of how long it takes to get a negative PCR test after being infected with the delta variant and fully vaccinated?

Randolph I was testing negative 10 days after my positive. If I remember rightly, the Doctor said I might still show a positive result for a while although having cleared the infection ?

I was due to fly to UK but was carted off to Hospital because of a positive test. I asked the Doctor would I be hospitalised again if I tested positive for a rebooked flight but he said no ? Don't understand that one but it was a relief !

Sorry this doesn't help much but my uninformed advice would be, do some lateral flow/rapid antigen tests at home, 3 or 4 in a week or so and then lash out on a PCR to be sure. ATB

Thanks for the advice. 10 days is pretty quick. Was it a PCR test? Did you have mild symptoms?

Most travel requires PCR tests which are more sensitive that ATK antigen. Seems like they can still pick up the virus even when ATK tests are negative.

Hi Randolph - I was lucky, not too bad, except for two spells, burning chest and very high BP.

I understand the virus can pass through quickly, but of course, I don't know how long I had it before the positive test.

Yes it's true that PCR is more accurate but Lateral Flow tests are easy to do and good enough. Buy in Mr DIY, 7/11 etc and it gives you some comfort.

For travel it's rt-PCR tests. Nothing is 100% sure - I had a test at Sirivej on a Sunday, positive but before they carted me off, I did another at BKK which was negative ! But I was still carted away LOL.

All's well. LF/RA/ATK is worth doing for fun and comfort - and <B100 not B3000+ ! Good luck.
