Vaccinated but tested positive for covid after - What to do for Thailand Pass?

Featured Replies

I have had both doses of vaccination, but then tested positive for covid after being vaccinated.

I read that you need to have one dose of vaccination after recovery, and present both the recovery certificate + vaccination after recovery.

Since I was already vaccinated before getting covid, do I still have to get another dose after recovering? Or do I still qualify with my prior vaccination certificate + recovery certificate?

I mean I could not bother with the recovery certificate, but apparently a lot of people will still test positive on PCR test up to 3 months after being infected. So in that case will the recovery certificate exempt me from a positive result? Will I even still need a PCR test prior to boarding the flight, or just present my recovery certificate?

The whole process seems rather confusing if you don't fit into their typical category.

If you are fully vaccinated, it is only necessary for you to test negative for active SARS-CoV-2 virus prior to your journey. The combination of infection followed by a single dose of a vaccine only applies when you have had no jabs prior to the infection.

That said, there is a risk you need to be aware of. Even after testing negative for an active infection, it is still possible a month or two later to test positive on an RT-PCR test as a result of the historical infection. This is because of inactive RNA fragments that trigger a false positive on the test. If you are unlucky enough to experience this just before traveling or on arrival, this will make a big mess of your plans.

For your flight, check with your airline as to what they require to board. The airline's requirement maybe different than Thailand's requirements.

Well they best add that category to the list. Vaccinated then positive. It happens a lot more than people may think. This is not a vaccine it’s more of a flu shot that needs to be adjusted as things mutate.
