I have a lady friend in Pattaya she tested positive.  Strange they told her to go home for 2 days, now they put in a quarantine hotel for 10 days.  Why not just let her stay at home?

Phuket 151 from abroad seems high.  What about all the other folks on the flights or in the airport or transport?

Seems to be the MO. I recall it happening to someone Mrs knows in Bangkok area, early in the Pandemic. Told to go home and 'wait'.... they sent a quarantine van round late that evening.

The Phuket 'sandbox' still in full swing?

With all the people self testing that should last a day or 2.

Exactly and they are only being delivered at 1 million a week.

They said yesterday that they are not going to be doing mass PCR testing anymore due to cost and instead relying on ATK (great for keeping official count down). Well for that to happen they need to get a lot more now not later.

Repeated Covid Boosters Not A Viable Strategy: WHO

WHO experts warned Tuesday that repeating booster doses of the original Covid vaccines is not a viable strategy against emerging variants and called for new jabs that better protect against transmission.

An expert group created by the World Health Organization to assess the performance of Covid-19 vaccines said simply providing fresh jabs of existing Covid vaccines as new strains of the virus emerge was not the best way to fight the pandemic.

"A vaccination strategy based on repeated booster doses of the original vaccine composition is unlikely to be appropriate or sustainable," the WHO Technical Advisory Group on Covid-19 Vaccine Composition (TAG-Co-VAC) said in a statement.

Very limited, if any against infection, yes but still protects against hospitalization and death which is the main goal now to save hospitals from being overrun.

Agreed, as we can see from real world studies and statistics, Pfizer, Moderna, AZ  etc have provided good protection from serious illness, admission to ICU and death from covid. A booster has provided even better protection. Its the non vaccinated who are dying and clogging up the ICU's

Welcome to “Newer Normal”

During the “New Normal”, human beings feared the worst though they still hoped for the best. In this “Newer Normal”, everyone still fears the worst but is hoping the worst will not be too bad, even as “mild symptoms” are inundating many hospitals.

Personally I would self test and self isolate if positive.

When Omicron eventually takes hold it will be impossible is quarantine in hotels etc. Just not practical on any level.

It has taken hold, just people not testing or home test and not report. Remember in Thailand positive test equals possible incarceration, especially if farang.

Fiddlers elbow springs to mind as we go up and down with cases. Yesterday was 83 and here is today's report.

Health officials on Wednesday (Jan 12) reported 89 new COVID-19 cases, 66 of which were found in Hua Hin.

Elsewhere in the province, 8 cases were found in Pranburi, 7 cases in Sam Roi Yot, 1 case in Kuiburi, zero cases in Thap Sakae, 4 cases in Bang Saphan, zero cases in Bang Saphan Noi, and 1 case in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.

No new deaths were reported today.

A further 2 cases were found in people who had travelled to Hua Hin from overseas.

Pretty clear now some provinces are not counting cases amongst foreigners. Pattaya reported 873 today but MOPH site states 896, 23 from 'world'.

https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/?dashboard=provinceAre they now trying to 'muddy' the fact that tourists are possibly picking up the virus in Thailand?

I don't believe any of the infection figures in a population of 70 million only just over 7000 plus in Australia with a population of 25.6 million 100.000 per day. I guess my calculator is not working.
