June 9, 200718 yr The reasons given at the time of raising this question previously do not seem to be in line with my observations. The posting rate in Bedlam has descended at a notable rate since this decision was taken. Do the mods still feel they are "flooded" with Bedlam posts when they use the "View new posts" option to fulfill their function ? OK So this thread is closed 1 second after I post it but the question IMHO was worth asking.
June 9, 200718 yr can anybody decipher please, Morse Code preferably, I think I would understand that more than the above Only joking F'say, Moss

June 9, 200718 yr Beflam? I dunno either. He usually makes me smile, but he lost me here. Farangsay, open it up sir. What are the observations you have? NB: Bedlam does no longer show up in "view new posts" : for general info.
June 10, 200718 yr I think he is/was referring to the crack-down that happened here not too long ago, when many threads were closed and dire warnings posted. I think he is under the impression (Rightly ? Wrongly ? I don't know) that one of the reasons for the crack-down was the number of posts the mods had to deal with in this forum (i.e. having to wade through a lot of the nonsensical junk that made up The Last Word thread, not that I would have had anything to do with that ! )
June 10, 200718 yr Author I think he was referring to Bedlam posts being excluded from View New Posts. One typo in the heading and everybody is totally confused. (Sigh) Forget I said anything. Move along there. Nothing for you to see here.
June 10, 200718 yr Sure. Reply to an old friend's post and then told to "move along". I guess I gotta start a new smut thread.
June 11, 200718 yr Was that the reason for taking it out of "view new posts" then? I remember seeing the thread (pinned, now, isn't it?), but didn't pay any attention, as I don't use "view new posts" very often. I just go to my favourite subforums & check them. So, mods, (echoing FS) has it made life easier for you, changing it?
June 11, 200718 yr Author Sure. Reply to an old friend's post and then told to "move along". I guess I gotta start a new smut thread. Sorry. Apart from a Firefox problem which I have just fixed I have a keyboard and mouse problem. Gonna be a bad hair month methinks.
June 11, 200718 yr Author I like flam, custard flam is nice but I have never had bed flam! Sounds saucy You'll probably enjoy it and even the crumbs won't bother you but be prepared to hate yourself in the morning.
June 12, 200718 yr So, mods, (echoing FS) has it made life easier for you, changing it? Personally, I find it better... it's much easier scanning new posts for spam and problem posters. Admin seem happy with the situation too... no complaints is good news hey? Taoism: shit happens Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us? Atheism: I don't believe this shit

Admin seem happy with the situation too... no complaints is good news hey? I just noticed a distinct fall in the level of posting in Bedflam (Boo likes that word) and wondered if there was a connection with the exclusion from "view new posts". Maybe it's just a natural trend , I don't know. You might contend that the original reason (volume of bedlam posts when moderating) is still valid and I won't contest your point of view - I'll just whistle a popular tune.

The level of posting has declined, cause I've not been around much, nor for exteneded periods, lately. i hope to be able to return to posting excessive amounts of cr@p soon. I apologise for any inconveniece caused by my absence.

Have you considered that this might be one reason for the lack of traffic? June 13, 200718 yr Have you considered that this might be one reason for the lack of traffic? Yes It may also coincide with the opening of the "chat" room. People may prefer more immediate reaction in their ongoing game of grab ass.

My original question was whether the original reason for excluding Bedflam from "New Posts" was still considered valid. I won't repeat it as some people don't realise that replying to a question with a question is a tactic reserved for ladies.

Oh, I was responding to your remark where you had observed "a distinct fall in the level of postings in Bedlam" and you "wondered if there was a connection with the exclusion from "view new posts"". I was offering another possible explanation. Reasoning that the fall off in Bedlam postings may have coincided with the opening of the chat feature. Prattlers, perhaps having found more immediate gratiifcation in a chat forum than here. I apologize deeply if I've offended your sensibilities. BTW, I don't see where I've answered a question with a question, but let me apologize for that too anyhow.
