Are we just going to have to live with unvaccinated people across Thailand?

According to a study published in The Lancet, one of the most respected scientific journals in the world, vaccines are only around 13% more protective against infection/transmission:

What is the vaccine effect on reducing transmission in the context of the SARS-CoV-2 delta variant? - The Lancet Infectious Diseases

So whether you are anti or pro-vaccine, this whole charade/witch hunt is entirely based on emotion, rather than rational thought and scientific fact.

Witch hunts are always based on emotion. But regarding  vaccination there is no witch hunt. The main baying hysterical  mobs in the UK are anti vaccine.

I am from the U.K and from next week , us unvaccinated people do not have to quarantine anywhere , just need a pre test and a test after two days upon arrival.

I will be going back to the U.K next week

That's new, interesting information. But I was told the UK no longer require pre tests. They don't. So it must be an airline requirement

From what I understand, many of the pro-vaccine and anti-vaccine are equally hysterical.

The "Witch hunt " is by the Government/Society , forcing people to get vaccinated or they lose their rights and freedoms and their ability to function normally in society.

The people protesting are those wanting to keep their right to self determination and freedom of choice

I have seen no pro vaccine street demonstrations to match the violent anti vax riots and demonstrations.  However, since the creation of the first smallpox  vaccines over a hundred  years ago there has always  been a groundswell of ignorant reaction and anti science  superstition in some cases supported by the church.

But you just said we don't  need vaccines to travel to UK.

My thinking also.

What happened to people simply using common sense?

Take sensible precautions, take personal responsibility for your health, and don't go crazy anti or crazy OCD fearful.

As far as I am aware , from 11 the February . unvaccinated people  need to show a pre departure negative  covid test , vaccinated people don't need to show a pre departure test

Let me tell you I am pro vaccine.

But, I have seen people getting aggressive about vaccines and having to wear masks towards other people.

Also there are companies basically blackmailing staff to get vaccinated or loose their jobs and income..

Police have been fining or arresting people for not wearing masks etc.

There are fanatics both sides.

Stop lying. Israel has started and has trialed their 4th shot. You can not do anything there without at least the 3rd shot.

France has made it so you can't even enter the country without 3 shots.

Fauci has said we need a 4th booster.

That is 3 quick examples. I'm sure I could find more if I cared enough.

Scandinavian countries are  pretty much claiming the end of the pandemic and all restrictions and regulations......so 3 examples to the contrary back at you!

You have seen people getting aggressive  about masks is not a witch hunt about  vaccines.

The loonies campaigning against vaccination have not been forced to have vaccines. They are campaigning to stop other people being vaccinated. THERE ARE NO FORCED VACCINATION IN THE UK. YOU ARE NOT TELLING THE TRUTH.

No one is talking about those loonies. We're talking about vaccine inefficiency for transmission/infection... and especially the unjustified hate thrown at unvaccinated for false and unscientific-supported reasons.

Please answer my question regarding having a test for entry  to the UK. As it is not a UK requirement why are you having it?

Are you in state quarantine or in private accommodation ?

At home, the wife and I have it. Daughter ok so far. Son was away and cant come back.

They told us to stay at home, they are calling a few times a day and the offer of a pick up is there if we need hospital.

Funny thing though. I was testing negative on ATK tests till this am.

The loonies in the UK have been trashing vaccination centres. Its they that need to calm down and them carrying out mob based, intimidating actions.

Are you saying all people who aren't vaccinated are thrashing vaccination centres? What percentage of anti-vaxxers are doing that? Only a handful of people in the whooooole entire whole world????

If you re read my post , you will see that I didn't say people are being forced to have the vaccine , what I did say is that if people want to continue living a normal life , they will be forced to get vaccinated .

Actually this small study shows the unvaccinated to be one and a half times more likely to contract Covid than the vaccinated.  There is also the benefit of the breakthrough infections being mild.

Breakthrough????

What a ludicrous word that is. It makes it sound like a minority.

My wife picked it up from a pub  round the corner. Every single person there that night got it. Staff and customers.

Vaccine didnt help prevent anyone getting Omicron.

What we need is therapy. Vaccines have failed us.

I think we'll find in a few years that these partial vaccinations and lockdowns actually created a global petri dish for variants to thrive.

Spanish flu burnt itself out in 2 yrs.

No test requirement for entering UK. No wonder you can't explain.

Not fully vaccinated – from 11 February

If you do not qualify as fully vaccinated for travel to England, you will need to:

  • show proof of a negative COVID-19 test – test to be taken in the 2 days before you travel to England

Unvaxxed with western education to be listed on national register of Irrational Fools, named and shamed so normal rational people and orgs. can entirely avoid them. If they can’t be trusted on simple vax then trust them on nothing.

Put them all in their own countries with criminals and all other anti-social and religious types. Socialists can join them since they love & defend dangerous incompatible people so much. Just like UN should be split into Free & <deleted> Countries, let’s divide nations into Rational & Irrational zones.

...and are the vaccines any better at stopping viral load shedding than natural immunity ?

Obviously not, or we'd not still have masks globally.

Actually, yes:

The Vaccine will allow your body to fight the virus much faster than natural immunity would.  This would allow for less population growth of the virus within the body leading to less shedding.

Additionally, as the amount of time infected with the virus would be far less on a vaccinated individual, the amount of time that the individual would shed virus would also decrease.

Think of it this way:

A vaccinated person will contain 1,000 particles, where 10% could shed per day.  But will only do this for 5 days.

An unvaccinated person will contain 100,000 particles, where 10% could shed per day.  And they will do this for 14 days.

So it is significantly better.

(An unvaccinated person will have a higher viral load because natural immunity takes time to kick in, and during this window of opportunity the virus will multiply quite quickly).

There is also the benefit to society as a whole:

If a Vaccinated person only manages to pass on the virus to 3 people, vs an unvaccinated person who might pass it on to 10.  After a 2 week period, the number of people infected would be significantly more amongst the unvaccinated community than the vaccinated community.

This has the benefits of less likely to target immuno-compromised individual, as well as less of a strain on the hospital system.

Yesterday  France  announced it required visitors  to be fully vaccinated  and have a recent booster. This is fairly  standard to Europe  and the rest of the world. So unless you want to spend  your holiday hanging out at the 'Whitegift' with the hoodie  intelligentsia you need to get on board with medical reality
