Change annual visa extension date.

Recommended Posts

For various reasons I would prefer if my annual visa extension date were 6~8 weeks early than it actually is.

Is it possible to change he renewal date?

For example, if rather than applying for 365 days extension, would applying for 320 days, thereby bring the next renewal 45 days earlier, cause a problem?

Immigration will not do them early so you can change the date your extension is due.

The only you can to is leave the country with a re-entry permit and then reenter the country and start all over again.

Thanks for your prompt

That’s a grim prospect, so I’ll stick with dates I have.

You are aware you can do 30 and at some places as much as 45 days early.  Will not change actual date of extension however.

When does your pp expire.

If you apply for 12 month extension in the year pp expires the extension will be granted up till expiry date of pp.

Most likely not suit what your hoping for.

I wish I had known that, I only recently renewed my passport.

But it’s a good point that might be useful information to others.

I did that last year… my PP only had eleven months left at extension date.

Now my extension date is far enough away from Songram to make my life easier…

I have a similar issue, I have to renew mine during the pre-Songkran bottleneck at immigration. Never pleasant!

As mine is a multiple entry OA, when travel restrictions ease around the region, I intend to leave the country and reset the date on my return as ubonjoe suggests.

If you are on an extension that requires medical insurance perhaps you could get the insurance company to change the coverage date to end earlier.  Immigration will only date your extension to the insurance expiration date.  I lost 1 day this year because for some reason Pacific Cross changed my expiration date 1 day earlier.

Just to be clear.

I think you can go in a couple of weeks early (maybe 30days?) Without a.y big hassles?

Mine (marriage extension ) is due March 25, but plan to go about 15th.

I wouldn't plan on that. I just got my new extension and they were so busy with the financial details, that they missed the expiry date of my passport. They gave me 12 months instead of 9, i didn't insist.. 10 years ago, in an other province, they didn't miss the expiry date but gave me 12 months anyway, just reminding me not to forget to renew the passport.

Mind telling us what would happen if we were to renew near Songkram?

I will defer to the experts above but I actually had it done when there was a conflict with the expiry date and me being out of the country. This was done by a senior officer that was temporarily seconded to our local office so I might have been lucky. UJ is right on the law but you could ask at your office if they can help.

Previously my extension date was a week or two after Songram, can't remember exactly ...the IO often ask me to extend after Songram because of how busy they were around that time, which would result in my having to sort any problem quickly.

Now I can extend about a month before Songram when it is reasonably quite

Strange, why would Songkram affect the officers?

Could it be that many foreigners come to Thailand just for the water throwing event?

I personally would leave Thailand during that period before Covid.

It’s a major public holiday - offices closed and all that good stuff.
