New car key & immobilizer

Featured Replies

I have a 2014 Ford Ranger with only 1 key/remote/immobilizer. Ford quoted mt THB5,000 for the key plus labor to program the unit to the car. I see the same key advertised on Lazada for less than THB1,000. Can anyone tell me if I buy the Lazada unit can this be matched to the car?

Yes, it can. However, the chip will probably be a inferior Chinese clone.

This is fine as it is only a spare, but where to get it matched to the car, will Ford still do this for me if I use the Chinese option

Many of the street key cutters will help.

I believe you need to program the chip in the key to the car to get it to work, not just cut the key

will a street key cutter help with this?

If you have and ELM 327 lead, download FORSCAN and program the key yourself.

Just had a ECU (self bought) fitted to my Mazda Tribute. Local Mazda dealer programmed it, including for the two keys, (one a clone from a keycutter) all for under 1,500 bht.
