the Ruzzians are practically at the lines they rushed to in the first days of the invasion, except around Izyum.

they were helped by traitors, most notably in Kherson.

the great concentration of forces at Izyum / Rubinzne is well known. There are bloody battles there right now. The daily bodycount published by the Ukrainian defense ministry has jumped, it was cruising around 100-150 ten days ago, now we see 350 - 400 every day. That's one BTG a day.

These traitors (spys), are they....

1) Russians living in Ukraine?

2) Russian speaking Ukrainian citizens?

3) Non-Russian Ukrainian citizen?

This hasn't been confirmed yet by Ukraine

Ukraine Troops Reach Ternova, Town on Russia Border, as Invasion Reversed

The Ukrainian counteroffensive appears to have pushed Russian troops past the Ukrainian village of Ternova and back to the Russian border, according to unverified reports in both Forbes and the Daily Mail.

If confirmed, a retreat of the Russian troops from the area around Kharkiv would be a significant success for Ukraine, freeing up troops to fight in the south of the country and giving respite to the devastated city of Kharkiv. On the other hand, a Russian retreat would be a terrible humiliation for Moscow and yet another setback in the invasion of Ukraine, merely weeks after troops retreated from the areas surrounding Kyiv in early April under the Kremlin's order.

from Kyivindependent.com :

Russia may cut off gas supply to Finland on May 13.

Key Finnish politicians have been warned that Russia may cut off the gas supply to Finland on May 13 due to the country’s potential accession to NATO, Finland’s media outlet Iltalehti reports citing anonymous sources.

Do the Gazprom contracts contain clauses against Finland asking to join NATO ?

Wouldn't stopping the gas supply be a breach of contract ?

He broke the Budapest Agreement on a whim. An agreement where Russia agreed to respect Ukraine's sovereignty and national borders in return for Kyiv agreeing to give up its nuclear arsenal. So a minor contract would be of no consequence.

Solution is an extraction strategy attack and rescue them.

What the point of supplying weapons if you do nowt.

The truth of getting weapons from the west is BS.

I'm glad that they are not under your comand.

Extract the defenders (possibly losing more people in the high risk extraction than are saved) and surrender Mariupol to Russia, allowing it to use the Russian forces currently tied up in the city to fight elsewhere.

I assume this option has already been considered and rejected.

You just have to look at the battlefront.

Lot of red,not much blue.

But i could be wrong as it never gets reported on here.

The reports I've read state that Russia attempted a quick seizure of Kyiv and failed.  Russia then attempted to encircle Kyiv and failed.  Then Russia decided to focus on capturing as much of the east and south of Ukraine as possible but is making slow to non-existent progress.

How are these reports in error?  What sources of information do you recommend?

Oh, and let's not forget that Putin's strategic goal of rolling back NATO expansion has failed spectacularly.

Your point being? 2 or 3 versions of the same story can often compliment each other and it is often the case that updates and different perspectives add another dimension. That’s not to say the Daily Mail does not have its occasional uses but it’s not a race to post on here is it?

Reports of another Russian navy ship being hit.

Official: Another Russian ship hit by Ukrainian navy near Zmiinyi Island. As a result of the attack, Vsevolod Bobrov, one of the newest ships of the Russian Navy, caught fire, according to Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Odesa regional military administration.

Actually I preferred the latter version. It really did add another dimension, namely a picture of the talented Sanna Marin! Obviously not just a pretty face!????

Are you implying that Putin and company understand ethics, honouring contracts, ?

He has a fairly poor reputation and running record of anything positive in resume to date.

A man whose "forces" commits alleged war crimes on such a scale, has no worries about breach of contract, and  turning gas off to another country.

if they (Russia) do that, it means  they would be ""cutting off their nose to spite their face"" as less income will be going to their account, as for breach of contract, Vlad doesn't care about that

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — The Kremlin warned about taking retaliatory “military-technical” steps after Finland’s leaders came out in favor of applying to join NATO, and Sweden could do the same within days, in a historic realignment triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

That would represent a major change in Europe’s security landscape: Sweden has avoided military alliances for more than 200 years, while Finland adopted neutrality after its defeat by the Soviets in World War II.

Public opinion in both nations shifted dramatically in favor of NATO membership after the invasion, which stirred fears in countries along Russia’s flank that they could be next.

Many did not see it as Finland was really being defeated in the "Winter War".  I suggest Russia may have been viewed more as being the "loser". The war which showed a weak Russia encouraged Hitler to invade and subsequently 27 million Russians died.

"Hostilities ceased in March 1940 with the signing of the Moscow Peace Treaty in which Finland ceded 9% of its territory to the Soviet Union. Soviet losses were heavy, and the country's international reputation suffered."

am with you but would prefer if Ukraine started to attack instead of defending.... old saying says the best defense is to attack and if Ukraine could send some missiles into Russian territory maybe Vlad would think twice, I know Ukraine send some but not enough to create doubt, more and on a regular basis so civil Russians would /may start to realize the gravity of Vlad actions and lies

IMO for Ukraine to brazenly target assets within Russian territory would be a strategic error of judgement. Can't quantify, but the impression I get is Russia has yet to deploy overwhelming military power (excluding nuclear) why this is; don't know.

Is this barbarian going to use the same defense as Putin and his trolls? He was only there to denazify Ukraine and it belongs to Russia anyway.

Hopefully he’ll get an extended sentence for perjury as well as cold blooded murder
