Alleged Ukrainian strike appears to kill large number of Russian troops housed next to ammunition cache

An apparent Ukrainian strike in Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine appears to have killed a large number of Russian troops housed next to an ammunition cache, according to the Ukrainian military, pro-Russian military bloggers and former officials.

According to both Ukrainian and pro-Russian accounts, the strike took place just after midnight on Sunday, New Year’s Day, on a vocational school housing Russian conscripts in Makiivka, in the Donetsk region.

The attack has led to vocal criticism of the Russian military from pro-Russian military bloggers, who claimed that the troops lacked protection and were reportedly being quartered next to a large cache of ammunition, which is said to have exploded when Ukrainian HIMARS rockets hit the school.

They won't invade any NATO or country with a treaty with the west.

If they want to invade Afghanistan by all means do so.

They tried Afghanistan decades ago got thrown out, perhaps because the Taliban are "not  an army" as such, they may succeed for a while, but not longer term IMHO

The Russian military's top brass is under increasing scrutiny as more details emerge of how at least 89 Russian soldiers, and possibly many more, were killed in a Ukrainian artillery attack on a single building.
The scene last weekend in the Russian-held eastern Ukrainian town of Makiivka, where the soldiers were temporarily stationed, appears to have been a recipe for disaster.

Moscow’s systematic war of terror in Ukraine. Expect many more of these torture chambers to be discovered as Ukraine liberates more of its territory. The USA and EU need to step up their military aid to Ukraine and deliver the kind of serious weaponry that will enable Ukraine to kick Russia out of their country and end this nightmare once and for all.

I totally agree, kick them out now!

The US needs to end its political paralysis and declare Russia a state sponsor of terrorism as the EU has done.

I disagree with that. If the US declare Russia a terrorist state, it will have massive consequences for India who is still dealing with Russia for cheap energy.

The US is doing the right thing, by training and supplying the Ukrainian military. The war is the greatest road show every with minced orc meat as the icing.

Someone said the Russians are stupid to keep all their forces together in one place as things like this can happen. But someone else replied saying if they were split into small groups they'd all do runners, not enough commanders to watch over them!
