Unlike the highest UK politician (the previous one)...

Yes totally unlike Truss who replied to the question while she was campaigning but you knew that already before making such a false equivalence.

"Your orders to our Trident boat captain on whether you, prime minister Liz Truss, is giving the order to unleash nuclear weapons.

"It would mean global annihilation. I won't ask you if you would press the button, you'll say yes, but faced with that task I would feel physically sick."

"How does that thought make you feel?"

Truss replied without emotion: "I think it's an important duty of the prime minister and I'm ready to do that."

Surely quite a wrong equivalence, isn't it?

Putin ally says Moscow is in 'military confrontation' with US and Britain who want to 'erase Russia from the political map of the world'

  • Nikolai Patrushev, a close ally of Putin, said the war in Ukraine is not a conflict between Moscow and Kyiv - but instead between Russia and NATO
  • Patrushev claimed the West is trying to 'pull Russia apart' amid war in Ukraine
  • Patrushev is seen by diplomats as one of the major hard-line influences of Putin

Did anybody claim it was official policy?

Mind you, this group of Russian TV panellists were the first to recommend missile bombing of Ukraine's infrastructure. Putin soon followed through with their recommendation.

Nukes obviously a different scenario, given likely start WW3.

Moreover, given that it would lead to the annihilation of Russia as well. Even "small" nuclear powers, such as France or UK, have enough missiles in their submarines to destroy Russia.

Putin demotes Surovikin, replacing him with Gerasimov as commander of war in Ukraine

I think that move is significant.

Gerasimov has been chief of Ruzzia's general staff for over ten years.

Even if  Dr. Evil  Surovikin will remain as his deputy, Gerasimov is an important figure. I'm unsure what Putin's goal is behind this move.

They say this has nothing to do with what is going on right now but a Dutch newspaper reported that 1275 tanks and armored vehicles as well as artillery has arrived in a Dutch harbor belonging to the US army. It is going to Poland and Lithuania to strengthen the US presence .

Apparently it was already planned in 2014 after russia invaded Crimea.I am sure some one is going to cry foul over this.

Unless they want to start WW3 they won't be driving over the border with US crews, so nothing special going on, just normal precautions, and as you pointed out, planned for years.

The battle is still on but its fierce and unsure how long Ukrainians can hold on?

Battle rages in Ukraine over salt town of Soledar

The fate of a devastated salt-mining town in eastern Ukraine hung in the balance Wednesday in one of the bloodiest battles of Russia's invasion, while Ukraine's unflagging resistance and other challenges prompted Moscow to shake up its military leadership again.

Russian forces used jets, mortars and rockets to bombard Soledar in an unrelenting assault.

Though unlikely to provide a turning point in the war, Soledar's fall to Russian forces after months of Ukrainian defence would be a prize for the Kremlin, which has been starved of good news from the battlefield amid Ukraine's counteroffensive in recent months.

Ten little Soldier Boys went out to dine; One choked his little self and then there were nine.

Nine little Soldier Boys sat up very late; One overslept himself and then there were eight.

Eight little Soldier Boys travelling in Devon; One said he'd stay there and then there were seven.

Seven little Soldier Boys chopping up sticks; One chopped himself in halves and then there were six.

Six little Soldier Boys playing with a hive; A bumblebee stung one and then there were five.

Five little Soldier Boys going in for law; One got in Chancery and then there were four.

Four little Soldier Boys going out to sea; A red herring swallowed one and then there were three.

Three little Soldier Boys walking in the zoo; A big bear hugged one and then there were two.

Two little Soldier Boys sitting in the sun; One got frizzled up and then there was one.

One little Soldier Boy left all alone; He went out and hanged himself and then there were none.

The destruction caused by fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces battling for control of a town in eastern Ukraine has been revealed in newly released satellite images.

Comparison with earlier images shows a school and several agricultural buildings are among the structures destroyed in Soledar, while bomb craters scar the landscape and roads around the salt-producing town in Donetsk.

You appear somewhat obsessive in your continual mentions of ‘WW3’.
Who exactly would be involved in this world war that you envisage?
I ask you as you are literally the only person who brings it up over and over again.
So let’s hear your theory…

If I'm obsessive it's because WW3 involves lots and lots of nuclear weapons, and probably the end of life as we know it.

If you don't know how the present conflict could escalate to nuclear war, or who would be involved should you be commenting about it, as it's pretty obvious?

Ever heard of unintended consequences?

From recent news ( last hour ) on Al Jazeera, Russian forces have captured the city center and the commander on the ground says they have won the city, but official Russian news says the fighting is not yet over.
