Centipedes

Featured Replies

Every now and then we get a small grey centipede in the bathroom. Sorry no photo as yet.

About one inch (in old money) 25mm long. Not fast moving.

I've searched and googled but can't find anything that looks like it.

Anyone else seen anything like the description

It could be a youngster, we had hell n all problems with Centipedes not too long ago, thread on here somewhere, but we had a lot of rain at the time, the mrs ( Thai ) said that they like the rain and come out, dunno how much truth is in that.

I was up-country (Chumphon) a few years ago with the g/f. At the local wat, there was a centipede there that was more than a foot long. Nobody went near it of course.

There's topics like this before .

This type is dangerous ... this is full adult .

This is the other type , not dangerous .

As you can see the difference , 1 has legs sideways , other one has legs underneath . There are color variations , but the main thing stays , avoid the sideway legs .

Another big difference is the speed of moving , the dangerous type moves quick , even small they react fast . The harmless type , rolls up .

One at the top is a centipede the one below is a milipede .

Sometimes I come across centipedes on the road through the rice fields. I stop riding my bicycle and pick them up. Does annoy the wife even though I tell her they are harmless. This one is about 6" long .

Sorry , my bad the picture I just posted is of course a milipede NOT a centipede , forgot to count the legs.

Install a few scorpions.  They'll get rid of the centipedes.

Legs stick out on the sides, centipede. Legs underneath, millipede. ????
