Three economic stimulus packages, introduced by the government to boost the purchasing power of consumers and to stimulate the economy have, so far, cost the taxpayer about 29 billion baht to support, Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said Saturday.

40.72 million subscribers to the three packages have spent money wired into their bank accounts by the Finance Ministry.

These include the 26.23 million subscribers to the 50:50 co-payment scheme, 13.26 million holders of state welfare cards and 1.2 million in a government funded scheme to increase the purchasing power of the less well off.

That's nothing. Not even 1 billion in 'real' money (e.g. US$), and much less than other countries in SEA have spent,

e.g. Malaysia (smaller population): more than

RM330 billion (2,570 billion baht/US$79 billion),

Vietnam: US$15.4 billion,

Cambodia: US$ 800 million - US$2 billion

... C-A-M-B-O-D-I-A!!

Don't forget the commisions that have to be paid to the "few" on any Government stimulus package.

So they can or could get money but just having state welfare card? How much?

Doesn't sound right; 29 billion baht - i.e. 29,000,000,000 - divided with 40 million - i.e. 40,000,000 equals (29,000/40) 725 baht each...????

... I heard yesterday Austria for example states 33.4 billion EUR combined covid costs and counting.

Maybe expenditures would be the better term, talking healthcare as well as economical help for corps & individuals here ... the 33 bille were for 2020 + 21.
