There are 7.9 billion people in the world now and there were about 1.8 billion in 1919 so I think that may have to be included for some comparison. Not everything on this thread needs to be negative.

Good point so the figure of 18 million deaths looks far better and more positive now, you may want to tweet the expert Tim Spector your comparison. While your at it don't forget that Covid is not finished yet and that study was for 2020 - 2021 figures only.

Apparently you missed the news this week that researchers have found that even MILD cases of COVID can cause people's brains to shrink/age up to 10 years worth of living. Deaths matter, of course, but

Deaths all over the world for Covid have been overstated as everyone knows. Especially the elderly. Even in anal places like Massachusetts. https://www.boston.com/news/coronavirus/2022/03/10/covid-19-deaths-massachusetts-adjusted-count/?p1=hp_secondary many people are outraged by this. The comments section is a very good read. It's outrageous how deaths have been counted.

It would be interesting to know how the numbers of patients in serious condition with pneumonia differs from pre-covid years. Given that there are about 1400 hospitals in Thailand https://www.statista.com/statistics/1114483/thailand-number-of-hospitals/ then 1255 would equate to less than one case per hospital. Or am I being too simplistic?

I prefer they address the pandemic rather than keep trying to deny we have one!
