skillboy88
I have just received my new UK passport. I now need to transfer the visa stamps in my old passport to my new one. I have the form that immigration gave me in order to do so. Does anyone know if this process is straightforward once you get to immigration? Any idea how long this process takes at immigration?
DrJack54
It's straight forward. It's a quick process. Should be zero charge. How long in total depends on your immigration office. Dont forget to also do things such as update your details with your bank etc Edited March 13, 2022 by DrJack54
Eff1n2ret
It is straightforward. Presumably you have the proforma from the British Embassy requesting the changeover, on which you have to fill in your details. It might take 20 minutes or so while they fill two pages of your new passport with various stamps.

darrendsd
It's a easy enough procedure, I've done it a few times over the years It should be free but some offices charge, Hua Hin immigration charge 500 Baht

Personally I wouldn't go out of my way. Perhaps leave it till your renewal of licence. Obviously the bank update is best done especially if needing bank letter etc for immigration and even day to day banking. But they said I could do it with the yellows house book, so I went back home , got the yellows book and went back, Then they said I could not be issued an international drivers license because I did not yet have my 5 year license. Which pis#d me off, because why did they not tell me that before when they told to go back home and get my Yellow book. TIT Anyway , it's not a problem because In the country I am going I can drive with my US license for 6 months. Daffy D
As an additional question. Should the new passport be updated straight away or is it ok to wait until the annual visa renewal is due. ?

Your old PP is cancelled as soon as you receive your new one so best to do it ASAP In saying that I waited around 3 weeks to transfer my stamp over last time ( couldn't be bothered to go to Immigration) and Immigration didn't say anything about the delay

I put is off for several months and traveled often out and back into Thailand with both passports. Wasn't due to being lazy. Rather my reentry permit was issued at airport so would not be able to just visit CW for transfer. I would still need both pp to exit and re-enter. You need to have Stamps transfered prior to new extension. Even that can be done on same time as extension. (retirement) Immigration does not transfer visas. The will do a stamp with spaces for info about your old passport and the visa used to enter the country that gave you the permit to stay you have been extending.

In future dealings with immigration where photocopy of your non O (visa) is required you can photocopy the transfered info. That will be placed in first pages of new pp. Think it's also wise to keep your old passports.

My Aust PP expires in 7 months, and my annual extension in 4 months, so I plan to kick-off with the PP renewal soon. For your PP renewal, how long did it take from the date you submitted your renewal application to the date you received your new PP? I heard that earlier in the year it was a 6 week process, compared to the usual 2 weeks (in the pre-covid days)? Yes, they advise 6 weeks and is generally good to err on the side of caution. Just make sure you have met the exact photo criteria. Also note appointment is required to submit. Appts only in the morning which is a pain if you are considerably outside Bkk. No appt required for pick-up. Take receipt, old passport if you still have or drivers licence ID etc. Good Luck, should be smooth sailing. 1

Master Photo Sathorn within the Embassy Sathorn Hotel. 31 South Sathorn Road. Towards the back of the arcade on LHS (can google them if unsure), 120 Baht for 6 snaps - remember not to smile or look remotely interested????????????.
