I do wish reporting standards could be improved. Lampposts are inanimate object’s, they do nothing. However the hapless  lorry driver did impale his own vehicle  upon the concrete posts. And as sure eggs are eggs will wholeheartedly believe that it’s the concrete post’s fault.

You wonder how far ahead some of these drivers are looking,

You need to keep an eye on the vehicle ahead of you, whats

coming up from behind , and just important far ahead ,to see

if anyone breaking (if their lights are working.........???? ) ,

The driver was lucky this time ,minor leg injury, and new underpants !

Holy cow, now they are hitting stationary objects even before they have been made stationary objects !

It's automatic. They see a post and have to drive into it. Doesn't matter if it's planted beside the road or still being transported.

I'm guessing he ran into another truck carrying the post on the trailer, no mention if the post had a warning red towel or not.

The report says the lamppost slid backwards off the trailer, in other words the lorry shed it's load. The driver who was following did not fail to brake in time he had no chance to brake or may already have been braking the lamppost detached from the trailer and slid backwards. There probably was no need for a red warning flag because the lamppost was wholly on the trailer and not hanging over the back
