Mandatory hotel stays of 10,000 beds on the first day could be labelled a clever scam..but of course, it's not:))

So these folks were planning to sleep on the beach otherwise?

Suvarnabhumi International Airport has welcomed more than 10,000 travelers per day after the mandatory RT-PCR test before entering Thailand was canceled since April 1st.

Yeah okay.

So, 10,000 a day in a busy holiday travel period. That's that, a poor 300k a month and 3.6 million a year. Allowing for the first few months of the year ongoing tourism disaster, a fall off after the holiday period and I seriously cannot see Thailand getting to 3 million tourists this year unless they drop this nutcasery imminently

I was at BKK 2 April for a few hours awaiting domestic check-in  -- Gotta start somewhere.

Lots of young non-Asian recent arrival types heading to the usual spots. And the Emirates check in was very busy with folks in Islam garb.

"...after the Thai government eased preventive measures for international arrival on April 1st, the average number of visitors in Thailand had reached 11,623 people per day which increased by 65.97 percent from March where the number was only at 7,003 visitors per day"

Or more likely because a 5th night hotel quarantine with PCR was required and this increase is just the timely affect of removing that hoop?

Hmmm…. Maybe there’s 2 Survanabhumi international airports? One with the real arrival numbers and the one mentioned in this article?

I wonder when this picture was really taken

Look at the bright side: it easily beats the international arrival at Pyongyang airport.

Many of them could have been Thai citizens now not so worried about their return.

Half the people in that photo appear to be workers dressed in black with armbands who appear to be checking paperwork ! ????

Maybe so -- are you maybe suggesting that once this arrival group is cleared, no others will then show up. I watched this hub bub on the second floor for a while from up on the 4th floor but didn't pay any detailed attention.

10 Thousand hotel rooms, 10 Thousand covid test, 10 thousand Airport transfers, 10 Thousands fraud Insurance ....Sold to the Gentleman of TAT!!!

Hospitals...Please wait for your turn on day 1 or 5.....

There is no day 5!

Get up to date.

You're given an ATK to take away and test yourself. Nobody ever demands or checks the results of that ATK.

Uncontrolled growth is never a good thing.  1990 less than 5 million tourists a year in Thailand, 2019 almost 40 million tourists.  700% increase in 20 years, not sustainable, just greedy

Sustainability and less reliance on tourism is better for the country long term

Heathrow has a landing every 90 seconds....based on that it means an average of 10 passengers on each flight into BKK........not bad!

A quick count shows ~ 41 int'l wide-body arrivals today so far: 00:01 - 14:15.

With another ~ 27 yet to land.

EK has one A380 on the BKK route.

QR announced they're moving to two (2) A380s on the DOH-BKK sector.

10,000 arrivals, 68* flights, avg. 147, seems believable?

And the photos on FB and Twitter show quite densely-packed crowds in the arrivals area.

*I didn't count ~ 20-ish narrow-body int'l arrivals, or the MUC-NNT "ghost-flight".

Removal of pre-flight PCR had no effect. Changing day 5 from mini-quarantine PCR test to ATK makes a huge difference.

They really need go to ATK only on arrival, but now that summer if quickly approaching arrival numbers are historically low. They've missing out for yet another high season already. Even on ATK on arrival, positives should be MAX of 5 day quarantine; Omicron is completely different that previous variants, however the "science" used has not kept up with current conditions.
