Siem Reap

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’ve been staying with my 1/2 thai wife and kids in koh samui for about 5 months. My parents have just joined us to help with childcare.
We’re paying approx £700 for 3 bed pool villa here pcm. We’re a bit bored and thought why not try siem reap.

Can I expect the same sort of property for the price in a decent area over there? Has anyone got any words of encouragement or otherwise in regards to our plan?

Any pointers, positive or negative, are welcome.

cheers in advance,

Ryan

edit: that was a bit convoluted, is the price of living/standard of living much better over there?

yes. you are going to be bored out of your mind living in siem reap long term and the food and standard of living is worse, but it's much cheaper. good luck.

If you're a single 'party' sort of guy SR is great cheap booze, Indian restaurants, lots of nightlife.

Not much else to do though, and I haven't been back since the Thai borders closed.

50c beer and $1 cocktails were common. Cannabis $10/bag.

Garden Village guest house and pool bar ............
