631 million baht in 4 days just in Surat Thani province - WOW!

The prediction came from the Surat Thani office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, chief Nanthawan Siriphokphat.

Another prediction from T.A.T...

Yesterdays news said spending would be the lowest for a decade or more due to higher energy prices and inflation.

She expected 54,198 visitors after she did a survey.

Of these 35,891 would be Thai and 18,307 foreigners.

The average stay in Surat would be four days.

They would all be spending 631.89 million baht.

Amazing foresight.

If she said they expected 50-55,000 visitors of which around 30% were expected to be non-Thai it would be slightly more believable! They don't even know the basics of statistical forecasting!

I'd assume her survey souce would he hotels, airlines and ferries but with TAT it could be a few random phone calls until they came across two or three potential visitors.
