From ignoring the non smoking areas .Using the lift without drying themselves properly after using the pool. Placing personal possessions plants etc outside the room making the common area unsightly . All against the rules but sadly commonplace . Persistent offenders seem to think they are being victimized if sent a warning letter from management . In our building, if someone leaves something outside their door, like shoes, the cleaning staff has been instructed to push the items to the end of the hall with their dust mop when they do their twice daily sweep of the halls. As for people who don't dry off before entering the lift after exiting the pool, they're spotted by the security guard with the CCTV and receive a stern letter. The worst area was the pool where (I can feel my blood pressure rising) people thought I wanted to listen to their phone conversations on full speaker volume.....their music on bluetooth speakers.....or swim in their sweat after they jump into the pool straight from the sauna. Occasionally, I will leave my shoes outside in the hall, which is against the rules here. When I lived on the lower floors, I was hassled all the time about hanging things on the balcony outside and not bringing my shoes inside. Everywhere else I can simply walk away, but the elevator is the one tiny shared space everyone must use to get to home. Our Juristic manager is an anti masker who manipulates condo rules and enforcement to enable his own sociopathic conduct. The freedom of living on a big land without neighbors, with a garage and enough space to store things is priceless. When I reached 3 motorbikes and a car, I started to get problem with management, and I also preferred to have my shoe rack outside door, and even cleaned daily around it, it also became a problem. Security were quite firm with me when my 2 year old had a ‘soft foam ball’ !!!!.... I told them call the police of they want. - No booze at the pool - OK, I get its no drunken parties. But I was annoyed after moving in when I had a beer at 5pm by the pool and security came over and over-reacted. - Couldn’t book the tennis court for more than 1 hours, even though the courts were quiet (had to get another resident to book in their name !) - Wife friend turned up with a small dog in her car, stopped in front. Took the dog out (holding it) to show my Wife - Juristic tried to fine my Wife 5000 baht for breaking the rules. - Another Guests Kid threw a paper Airplane out of the 20th (or so) floor window - I don’t know how they identified who. Juristic attempted to levy a 20,000 baht fine on the tenants of that unit. - I remember when I’d received a parcel while I was away. I went to retrieve it from the juristic office, they wanted ID, I had my driving licence. they wouldn’t accept that and wanted my passport. I saw my parcel on the shelf behind them, so I just walked round and go it. They weren’t happy about that but didn’t speak with me about it. They threatened my Wife with a fine !!! In general the juristic staff were rude and on some sort of very strange power trip. This was a high-end Condo with a mix of Thai’s and expats living there (rents go from 50,000 to 200,000 per month). We left as soon as our two year lease was up - it wasn’t a nice experience living there. Of course, renting is a different thing but my belongings for a year can fit in a large suit case and then I typically like to move on, so storage has never been an issue. If an owner is leaving shoes out--and decorating the public hallway with his plants--then he is in the wrong place if both are against the condo rules. As another poster said, if you want to do that check the condo rules first before buying or renting. I feel it's important to have strict rules and enforce them. One pair of shoes in the hallway can lead to a half dozen or more scattered around. One person's idea of what is tasteful is likely to clash with someone else's. An attractive plant in a nice pot in the hallway might sound ok. But, what happens when the plant pot leaks and stains the floor? Or, the resident decides that since one plant is ok, why not have 5 or 6? And, let's add a plant trellis while we're at it. To many people on a different place in life, and also different opinion on what peace and quiet is. Just one example when I had my morning coffee on sunrise on my balcony, they started to lay out their towels on the sunbeds, and headed back for a nice long breakfest. Lunchtime, the same people left their belongings, and came back an hour later. Unecessery to say when they came back their towels and belongings was removed. Just simple things like that make war in a condominium. People are egoistic, and care for themselves and their needs without thinking of others. High heels walking in the late evening/night. Nachspiel on the balconies after closing times, and smoking while sleeping. Not a big problem in the hot season, but nice to sleep with window open during cold season. Tv news and sports at times at their origin countries often in night times. I'm near a "music company" and my neighbors say they like the loud music. luckily I'm facing another direction and almost never hear it, until I walk down the stairs. OMG. Bass Bass Bass... Because we’d (or anyone else) would be so isolated it would become inconvenient.... I couldn’t do that because it would be too far from my Sons school (and we won’t sent him to an upcountry village school, so it has to be an Int’l school in BKK). We’d be too far from any friends (socialising or lack of it would be rubbish). Too far from activities (both Wife’s and my team sports activities). Its about compromise - its either a very very expensive 50million baht house in BKK with some land around you (and thats not guarantee of quiet) or a compromise and some noise and tolerance. My compromise is neighbours who are fortunately quiet, one annoying dog in the moobaan (barks when you walk past but I’ve not seen it get out), and scores of Grab riders making their deliveries and riding a little too fast where children may be playing and riding bikes etc....
