Deputy Prime Minister and Democrat Party Leader Jurin Laksanawisit offered a public apology this morning (Tuesday) over the sexual abuse scandal implicating its former deputy leader, Prinn Panitchpakdi, and announced his resignation as chair of two national committees on gender equality and women’s policies.

“As leader of the Democrat party, I am profoundly sorry and take this opportunity to apologise for everything that has happened concerning one of the party’s personnel,” said Jurin during a press conference at the party’s head office.

As head of the party, who had a key role in bringing Prinn into the party and, even though the latter’s admission to the party had gone through the executive committee and was approved by the general assembly of the party, he said that he cannot dodge the responsibility and must try to resolve the problem.

Not wanting to defend any sexual abuser, but the guy appears to have been prosecuted, tried, convicted, sentenced, and hung, drawn and quartered without getting a chance to defend himself.

If he's guilty I hope he gets what's coming, but sheesh, let a guy get a trial first.

Think you need to research the facts regrading this person starting from 2002/2003 in the UK before you make suggestions like that

Sexual about is a serious crime in Thailand even more than murder and it is seriously frown upon, so groveling and apologising profusely is the only thing the party leader can do now to save the image of the party, guilty or not...

He could resign as well?

In Thailand a trial can be bought, hence the social media history lesson to make sure it's not swept under the carpet.

If someone bribes the victims to not testify in court, does that make it right?

Too late now. The stain has already set.

Besides that, any suggested accusations would probably be settled out of court - families compensated and whatnot. Accompanied with the protocol of public apologies.

......blows over/forgotten in a short time and he's back in business.

That is a pathetic apology from Jurin.  Allegations were well known for years in the circles he moves in but he decided to take a risk that nothing would become public and become a liability for him and the party, quite a big hope in the world of politics.  He lost his gamble and now refuses to take responsibility and resign from a lucrative position. Hopefully votes will punish for his poor judgment

Kinda, sorta sounds like to do want to defend this "guy". And you should, if you feel so strongly.

That said, your post seems more reflexive than rational. Did you even read the article. The Democratic Party leader issued a vague apology; that is hardly a "drawn and quartering"?

Maybe a bit hysterical there?

Take a  deep breath, relax and get on with defending Prinn.

No doubt Jurin, Chuan and all the other Democrat Party grandees know all about Prinn's nasty habits and history because everyone else did.  Yet they believed they could get away with appointing him as deputy leader and to sit on a women's rights committee in male chauvinist Thailand.
