Thai Rath reported that deputy prime minister and health minister Anutin Charnvirakul went to Ranong in southern Thailand on the latest leg of his tour around Thailand promoting medical marijuana and hemp.

The minister's key words were medical, economy and benefits for the Thais when it comes to the plant now hailed as a savior.

He also managed to mention tourism - medical tourism, that is.

Anutin was shown how to incorporate the leaves of the plant into local food.

The event at Pichai Ratanakhan school in Muang district aims to increase awareness, explain the legal position and advise on production techniques for growing plants suitable for medical grade marijuana.

The seven provinces that make up health Region 11 have issued permission to 36 places covering 63,247 square meters for growing space.

This is getting out of control - a drug that a short few months ago was illegal to have or use is now being promoted widely - Mr Autin very obviously has a business interest in this and sees himself making a lot of money

of course he has. This and his ambitions to become next PM. Otherwise the cannabis legalisation would never happen until the cows come home....

If you can't get and buy it easy its not going to be popular.

Seems like such a hassle.

Pots not as popular as it once was, also.

Meth is the drug of choice.

It's cheap and the local cops always have a supply for sale.
