Kids as workers ?

From what I have seen they let them bring their kids with them while working.

If none of them actually died I would say that was very fortunate.

Of course if they die later in the hospital it will not be reported.

The creche facilities at their accommodation must be fully used up! Yes, 2 can work while the kids play around the building site!

No. Thai journalism standards.

Kids as-in family members.

That isn't what the reported quote says. It lists the workers as men, women and children. Poor journalism. Now, if they had deleted the word 'workers'....

Riding in the back of pickups is illegal because when the pickup turns over people tend to fall out and are injured or killed. But this is Thailand so no-one cares and everyone, including the police, ignore the law and allow everyone to play Russian Roulette with their life and that of others. No-one cares. No-one.

My wife was in a school pick-up which overturned. One kid lost his legs but she was uninjured and ran home. And that was 50 years ago. Nothing changes and never will.

Slave labour, being transported around in beat up old pickups with no regard for their welfare whatsoever.

Third-World is a mentality and Thailand will never grow out of it, doesn't matter how much money they have or how many fancy malls they build.

How can you have thirteen people in a car? Ohhh! By letting them ride on the back. MORONS! Never learn anything!

Unfortunately this is all very normal.  The people in the back, the accident, the kids present on building sites.  This is Thailand!

If this pisses you off, wait until you hear someone say that there was nothing they could have done to prevent it and it was all down to fate...
