Muang district police and rescue services in Udon Thani in NE Thailand were called after a Myanmar construction worker was run over by a train.

It happened near a construction site in the vicinity of the Nong Bua market junction.

The victim was dressed in a singlet and sarong. Mya Win, 28, had horrific head injuries. There was a bottle of alcohol near the mangled body.

A Thai colleague, Udorn, 28, said that he had seen his friend doing what he often did - play on his phone with his head propped up on the rails.

He thought nothing of this and had a shower and went to bed. He was alerted with the news of what had happened and called the authorities.

The police said that it appeared that the man was so engrossed in his phone that he had not heard the arrival of the #417 diesel service that had left Korat at 3.55 pm and was due in at Udon Thani at 9 pm.

The Myanmar embassy and relatives were being informed, reported Siam Rath who reminded their readers of the folly of lying on the tracks.

How stupid can you be to do that? But then again, a sign of times worldwide, morons whose existence is embedded in their bloody phone!

A perfect candidate for the Darwin awards....

There’s not really much to say here....

This seems like a suicide apart from the fact that the deceased reportedly did this often.

Its not as if ’track rails’ are even comfortable.

The concern for me is that there are people equally as stupid driving and riding around - now thats frightening.

"There was a bottle of alcohol near the mangled body."

No other words needed really.

Highly unlikely, more like passed out from the alcohol.

Oh heavens, if you need reminding of this you should be in the safety of a padded cell , not in the community !

Gosh that reminds me of a really   OooooooLD  joke.

Guy walks into a bar---said to the Tender, you know when I staggered out here last night really drunk--Yep said the barman.

Well I took the short cut home and I come across a girl tied to the rail Lines. So I took her home---had great night, sex all night

every which way I wanted it. All night long.

Well your lucky said the barman --was she good looking..

Don't know said the Guy...I never found her head.

Nor felt the vibrations coming down the track...

he won't do that again.

Good. The world just got a tiny bit smarter. Moron.

Only a member of the sheep family could accept this report.

All his previous attempts weren't as successful as this last one...

I think so. Im sure that if not he'd had felt the rail vibrating. Also given where this is, very close to Udon railway station, Im sure they sound the loud horn on approach.

To me , the "friend" report sounds a little fishy.

I imagine this scenario:

Guy is drinking,   gets in fight with friend...

Friend bashes in guy's face,  he doesn't mean to kill him (maybe he does) .... thinks if a way to "hide" the bashed in face...

Oh ya, the guy always lays with head in tracks,   that's normal
