Paradise, anyone?
I do envy the faith and hope religious people can have, regarding an afterlife. It must be very consoling. -

Help on "Retirement Visa"
I will have completed the 2nd year extension of my stay in Thailand in mid-February 2025. It is based on retirement. I entered with a 90-day non-0 visa in November 2022, I put 800k baht into a Thai bank account and kept it there for three months and then applied for an extension of stay which I got, and it was extended from mid-February 2023 to mid-February 2024. I then extended it for another year until Feb 2025. I was wondering how to convert to the same type of visa but using a monthly pension payment (it is rent from a house in the UK really but that is part of my pension) instead of a lump sum of 800k baht. I am going back to the UK for a month or two in November 2024, I could get another non-0 visa which is 90 days or I could come back to Thailand on my current valid (retirement) visa So if I come back to Thailand using a new 90 non-0 visa at that point do I start transferring the minimum monthly pension into my Thai bank account and then apply for the visa extension after 90 days after I arrive in Thailand and then continue to do that every month until I re-apply and extend the visa every year from then on? Or if I come back using my existing visa extension how do I convert to a monthly pension application rather than the 800k deposit? Thanks in advance for your reply(s). -

65k Method For First Non-O and have 12 months of 65k FTT transfers
When 3 Embassies stopped issuing Income letters, Immigration issued a new order in regard to 1 year extension of stay permitting as an alternative, proof of income via monthly overseas transfers to a Thai bank. This alternative of proof of income was never added to the requirements for a Non O visa at Immigration. -

AIS fiber 2gb connection (symmetric fiber) came with a 1gbs port on the ONT! How to change?
Yeah tested it - its wifi 6e and it sucks - sure the 2.4ghz signal is pretty good around a big house, but it drops randomly at the worst possible time (mid streaming, mid game, etc). I want to get rid of it, so I was thinking, 2 options: a) I disable all the crap on it including SSIDs, DNS, etc. , then I plug proper gear (Unifi) into the lan ports. b) I get rid of it and find a good PON box. Problem I have is a) means keeping a POS in the loop lol, having this 2000 bath thing in the middle of a pro unifi setup is ridiculous 🙂. As for b) I have no idea how the thai ISP functions, I'm from the UK, and it seems they are hiding the PPOE details. If you have any advice please let me know. PS: I'm not sure what the next poster is on about regarding 'engagement posts'. - if it makes anyone feel better I can post pictures of the setup. -

Australian Aged Pension
My private health provider in Australia restored my suspended insurance the week before I landed in Australia, after the COVID lockdown. They knew I had been overseas for more than two years. I pay the premium yearly. If the fund continued to accept premiums from me while denying me cover because I am not resident, that would be fraud. The health fund is a not-for-profit entity, maybe that is a factor. The subject of residency has never been raised with me by the health fund. Obviously, I am not going to start asking.- 1

Chinese man calls Thai women prostitutes sparking online outrage
China has businesses that the front is another business and there is a door that leads to the brothel in the back. So that is funny how blind the Chinese can be to what is happening in their own country. Just because it is not out in the open in China doesn't mean it is not going on around the country. -

Lampang dams overflow, residents urged to evacuate valuables
I stand corrected as far as there are people that can get insurance for their houses. I'm just aware of the higher price and the reluctance of some companies to cover. Yes, I'm aware of the NFIP. I know a few that couldn't get covered by their insurance companies, but I'm guessing they didn't try the program and moved. It might get to be too much eventually with all the flooding that's been increasing and I still think it's very dumb to build in such an area, as history tends to repeat itself as far as flooding. Bangkok and New Orleans will continue to suffer because of greed and foolishness. -
