Is Patong nightlife dead?

Baron Samedi

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

What's going on in Patong these days?

I just watched a couple of vlogs on YT and had a weird feeling about the place.

Bangla Road seems really different somehow. Kinda dead really. Couldn't feel the usual vib.

Am I tripping or is there some sort of transformation going on? ????

Was there over Christmas 21 and didn't find it dead.

What vlogs are you watching?

If you consider this dead then OK:

At 1:41 you see an India trio, so must be a current video as promised in the title

Fair point for many places, easily forgotten that things were downhill from the top before covid started.

Now covid years later, aside inflation, i really not expect even a 50% recovery soon. Yet everyone seems to buy bars.

I don’t mind really, it makes TH nicer.

"Yet everyone seems to buy bars".... really?

I bought and built a mini form because I like it as a hobby, I guess some bar owners think like me, and not just to make profit. ????

A bit of an exaggeration I think, however some bars on the periphery of Bangla have certainly changed hands a few times over the past six or eight months.

There are bars in Bangla which are not doing very well at all, and a few which are doing fair to good, however there is a pretty good nightlife scene going on at the moment, so some bar owners would be happy with this.

I will add that the bars in a couple of Soi's are having a lean time, but outside of those, not so bad.

I've been watching the vlogs of a scandinavian guy called Nine Media.

It looks like Bangla has less bars, more pubs and a different kind of crowd.

Girls have a different attitude as well it seems. Less energetic, less friendly maybe?

(might be the guy filming making them uncomfortable. He acts a bit weird sometimes.)

I remember them dancing on counters and around poles almost everywhere. The link is a video that I've found of the old Tiger complex. This is how I remember it. (I was there between 2013 and 2016 or something)

Btw is soi Eric gone? Couldn't see it on his footage...

Thanks to all of you for your replies.

Dunno if Bangla died but this forum is alive and kickin' for sure ????

Once the girls got smart phones it was all down hill from there.

The girls got more options you say? They got better educated ? They know their price? They only need one sucker who is paying more than 3 cheap customers?

Classified as "Entertainment" I guess, so not allowed under the present regulations.

I was on Phuket last October to March, most nights on Bangla, and only saw one bar/pole dancer in the entire five month stretch.

But...... other stuff is still widely available.

Sorry ????

I'll be more careful next time.

The "other stuff" is nice but you can get it for cheaper elsewhere.

What was really cool about Patong was its sexy, exotic, vibrant atmosphere.

Gone I guess !

Anyway. This is how things are. They evolve and so should we.

Maybe it's better in Bangkok or Pattaya.

Thx

Patong lost the paradise feeling when Shark was busted. That was the beginning of it's way going downhill year by year. From Slash to Ahmed...from rock'n roll with endless party to low 711 spenders.

Hmm...maybe more like that. titanic closure was the paradise cut and shark closure was the freely unlimited party cut and money/power took control.

Was titanic '95 or '96?

I believe it is you who became older, and they still are as attentive to the age you once was before the smarthphones ????

Times changes,  no matter what the past is behind for good and bad.

I did  2005 to 2007, so I had my share of the rock star experience walking around, and in fact that still happens in Bangla road, at least we did have quite alot of attention when we where there a few months ago. Not as crazy as back then, but still screaming lady’s trying to haul you in to their bar.

I'm talking about well before 2005, but whatever.

That means you are very old my friend, but whatever ???? I'm sure you had your share when the golden age for you was and the other bar enthusiasts ????

Enjoy the memory but to earnest I was there before the smartphones, right?

Bangla/Phuket/Thailand may not be as fun as it used to be due to various short/long term factors, but can anyone name another place which has become more fun than Bangla/Phuket/Thailand over the same time period?

Ive been chatting and reading a bit on the Bangkok and Pattaya forums. Its more or less the same everywhere. Pattaya might be better off.... kinda. I don't know what to do. My initial plan was to go to Patong but I feel like I'll get bored after a week ????

There is still no where better in SE Asia than Phuket/Thailand.

No touristy place in the world is really back to “normal”.

Some would argue that Phuket s much better with less tourists.

You can make your own fun anywhere, if you are willing and creative.

Do you really need swarms of tourists to make it fun?
