Rocket festival this Saturday and Sunday

Featured Replies

Saturday and Sunday the 2nd and 3rd of July there will be a rocket festival about 35km from Chiang Mai at Huai Lan reservoir 18.692361, 99.206250

If you have never seen one, it’s definitively worth to come to see this typical Thai spectacle.

If you come by car it can get difficult to find a parking place and if you find one it might be difficult to leave. Better park a bit away and walk the distance along the reservoir. Baanpong lodge has a parking lot and you can order some food, snacks or drinks after the visit so you don’t look like a cheap Charlie.

Is this a festival where people make their own rockets ?

If so, not a good idea because people lose limbs and sometimes die when making those rockets

Looks like fun, even when the rocket fail.  As for "losing limbs", I would want to spectate not launch the rockets...555.

Its the people making them that get injured .

A bunch of local kids blew themselves up in the village making one of those rockets , lives and limbs lost
